 About the job Jona Manufacturing Services, Inc. is seeking a dependable and skilled Class B Machinist to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on machining experience, a good understanding of CNC machining practices, and the ability to produce quality parts while following drawings, work instructions, and established manufacturing procedures. Responsibilities • Set up and operate CNC and/or manual machining equipment with limited supervision. • Manufacture parts according to engineering drawings, specifications, work instructions, and job requirements. • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, dimensions, and tolerances. • Select and install appropriate tooling and make routine machine adjustments as necessary. • Verify tooling, offsets, and setup information before and during machining operations. • Perform in-process inspections to verify parts meet specified requirements. • Use precision measuring equipment, including calipers, micrometers, indicators, height gauges, and other inspection tools. • Monitor machining operations and identify problems with tooling, dimensions, surface finish, or machine performance. • Make routine adjustments to maintain dimensional requirements and tolerances. • Accurately complete Manufacturing and Inspection Travelers and other required production and inspection documentation. • Report machining, drawing, tooling, or quality concerns to the appropriate supervisor or Quality Assurance personnel. • Follow established quality, safety, and manufacturing procedures. • Maintain machines, tooling, and work areas in a clean, safe, and organized condition. • Work cooperatively with senior machinists, supervisors, Quality Assurance, and other production personnel. Qualifications • Previous experience working as a machinist or CNC machinist in a manufacturing environment. • Experience setting up and operating CNC machining equipment. • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints. • Working knowledge of machining practices, cutting tools, speeds, feeds, and basic tooling selection. • Ability to understand dimensional tolerances and basic GD&T requirements. • Experience using precision measuring and inspection equipment. • Ability to perform routine machine setups and adjustments with limited supervision. • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work. • Ability to follow written procedures, work instructions, and job-specific requirements. • Dependable attendance and ability to work effectively as part of a manufacturing team. Preferred Experience Experience with CNC lathes, CNC mills, multi-axis equipment, and precision machining is preferred. Experience working in a controlled manufacturing environment where documentation, traceability, inspection, and customer-specific quality requirements are important is also beneficial. What We're Looking For The ideal Class B Machinist has a solid foundation in machining and is capable of completing routine setups and machining operations with limited supervision. This individual should be comfortable reading drawings, using precision measuring equipment, making necessary machining adjustments, and verifying that their work meets established requirements. A Class B Machinist should also be willing to learn more advanced setups, machining techniques, programming, and troubleshooting while working alongside more experienced machinists.
