Description

Help lead the team behind the nation's favorite menudo.

Since 1946, Juanita's Foods has been a family-owned, family-run maker of authentic Mexican soups and prepared foods — including our world-famous Menudo, Pozole, hominy, and Pico Pica hot sauces, from our plant in Wilmington, CA. Nearly 80 years later, we're still cooking traditional recipes at scale, and we're looking for an Assistant Production Supervisor to help keep our production floor running safely, efficiently, and to the standard our name has stood for since day one.

About the role

The Assistant Production Supervisor supports daily operations with a primary focus on employee training, maintaining Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), production data capture, and building structured retraining plans. You'll partner closely with the Production Supervisor to make sure employees are properly trained, processes are current and documented, and productivity and quality expectations are consistently met. This role also helps manage a union workforce — supporting productivity, safety, and positive labor relations in alignment with company policy and our collective bargaining agreement (CBA).

What you'll do

  • Onboard and train new employees on job tasks, safety requirements, and quality standards
  • Lead refresher and retraining sessions based on performance gaps, process changes, or quality issues
  • Support development, review, and updates of SOPs to reflect current operations and best practices
  • Ensure updated SOPs are communicated, trained, and followed on the floor
  • Capture and track production data on output, efficiency, quality, and labor performance
  • Analyze production data to identify training needs and improvement opportunities
  • Build retraining plans with defined timeframes, milestones, and follow-up evaluations
  • Track retraining progress and report outcomes to the Supervisor and management
  • Provide floor support to reinforce proper procedures, safe work practices, and productivity
  • Serve as the go-to contact for training questions, SOP clarification, and process guidance
  • Identify process gaps and recommend training or procedural updates
  • Support the Production Supervisor with daily reports, labor hours, staffing, and attendance tracking
  • Assist in safety, quality, or workplace incident investigations
  • Serve as a member of the Emergency Response Team (ERT)

What you'll bring

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree preferred
  • 3+ years of leadership experience in food manufacturing, ideally across both production and labeling/packaging
  • Proven success hitting throughput, yield, and efficiency goals
  • Experience managing in a union environment (required)
  • Strong knowledge of HACCP, GMPs, and food safety regulations
  • Familiarity with Redzone production management software a plus
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Flexibility to work extended hours, weekends, and holidays as needed
  • Fluent Spanish a plus

Physical requirements Primarily performed in a manufacturing plant environment with noise, varying temperatures, and chemical exposure. Requires prolonged standing/walking, occasional lifting up to 50 lbs, and use of required PPE (safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, steel-toe shoes).
