Job DetailsJob Location: 2468 S ST ANDREWS PLACE - LOS ANGELES, CA 90018Salary Range: $160,000.00 - $170,000.00 Salary/year   Job Description Position Director of Nursing (DON) Department SNF Nursing Reports To Administrator FLSA Status Exempt Prepared By Human Resources Prepare Date July 2019 Revised Date N/A Job Summary   Under the direction and supervision of the Administrator, the Director of Nursing is responsible for the provisions of 24-hour nursing services to meet nursing needs of residents which includes spiritual, emotional, cultural, social, and restorative needs and ensures there are resident care policies/procedures designed to meet those needs. The Director of Nursing ensures proper coordination of staffing, and scheduling of nursing personnel for assignment of duties that are consistent with their and educational experience, based on type of resident acuity. The Director of Nursing is totally responsible for staff development, maintenance of nursing service objectives, and standards of nursing practice and has twenty-four hour (24-hour) responsibility for resident care management and staff development to meet resident needs. Mission and Values Demonstrates the competencies to fulfill the Mission and values of St. John of God Ministry, which are the foundation of all activities performed by every employee Mission We are here to extend the healing mission of Jesus through the Hospitality of St. John of God by continually improving the health and quality of life of the people we serve Core Values   Hospitality Creates an environment where people can feel welcomed, comfortable, understood, esteemed and loves Respect Recognizes the richness of God’s gifts and His presences in every person regardless of age, situation in life, culture or religion Quality Works toward creating centers of excellence and service fostering continuous improvement in the quality of service Responsibility Encourages cooperation as a way of promoting standards of competence, efficiency and accountability as we carry out our duties in the Mission Essential Functions Ensures 24-hour provision of nursing services within federal, state and company requirements based on acuity of residents Schedules and conducts daily rounds to see all residents Coordinates Nursing Services with other Resident Services Evaluates and identifies nursing personnel for development and/or educational needs Maintains standards of nursing services within the expectation of the Nurse Practice Act and the profession of nursing Supports the overall goals of the facility and the company Maintains standard of nursing practice in alignment with the organization’s mission and values Ensures that only those residents for whom services can be provided are admitted to the facility Develops and maintains Nursing Policy and Procedure Manuals as needed and in compliance with state, federal and company standards Develops and maintains written task guidelines for all nursing personnel Ensures exchange of essential information necessary for the provision of quality resident services Attends and participates in meetings and in-services as required Develops and maintains a budget for Nursing Services as defined by facility’s budget     Ensures that all documentation necessary for quality resident care is maintained according to Federal, State, and Company policy Ensures that the nursing functions and training of staff are met Serves only the facility in the capacity of a Director of Nursing Services Establishes department work goals and coordinating delivery of care through supervision of nursing personnel Reviews daily assignment with Assistant Director of Nursing Services, RN Supervisor, and Charge Nurses Supervises all nursing personnel on their designated stations and responsibilities Represents professional image to consumers through dress, behavior, and speech Adheres to company standards for resolving consumer concerns/complaints Ensures that all resident/consumer rights are protected Additional Responsibilities & Duties Monitors the inventory and ordering of supplies to meet resident needs Recommends number and level of staff for nursing care to be employed Follows organizational and departmental procedures Other responsibilities as delegated by Supervisor Information Management Treats all information and data within the scope of the position with confidentiality and security Risk Management Cooperates fully in all risk management activities and investigations Qualifications Physical Demands & Working Conditions Sitting at least 50% of the time (able to stand while at the computer) Walking at least 50% of the time Ability and mobility to work in an office setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist Lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight up to 20lbs Operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of computer keyboard Must follow the dress code policy Must follow all safety measures and procedures Required Qualifications Current License as a Registered Nurse in the state of California Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing, Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing/or health related field preferred Minimum two (2) years of experience in nursing supervision Experience in long term care which includes direct care of the aged or chronically ill Strong administrative and organizational skills Able to execute sound judgment in resident care and staff development Ability to implement interventions for resident care based on standards of nursing practice and principles of nursing care Demonstrates supervisory management, employee relations and leadership skills Additional Requirements Must keep all required certificates and/or licenses current Strong administrative and organizational skills Ability to implement interventions for resident care based on standards of nursing practice and principles of nursing care Leadership ability and capacity to work effectively with all levels of personnel Effectively supervise professional and non-professional staff Able to execute sound judgment in resident care and staff development Interest in and knowledge of current trends and new developments in nursing Able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing (English) Able to adequately perform the physical requirements of the position Knowledge of Title 22 and OBRA regulations
