Overview

Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for an Experienced Geotechnical Engineer to join our dams and levees engineering practice in one of our offices in Los Angeles, CA or Davis, CA. The flexibility to work a hybrid schedule is at the discretion of the company.

 

This position is well-suited for a talented, experienced individual who is interested in contributing to innovative and challenging projects involving design and construction engineering support of dams and appurtenant works, levees and flood control infrastructure, dam/levee safety risk and risk-informed decision making, and geotechnical analysis and design for a range of critical infrastructure.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supporting dam and levee design projects;
  • Task and project-level responsibility for scoping, performing, managing, and delivering multiple concurrent project assignments;
  • Preparing and implementing geotechnical site characterization programs;
  • Evaluating geotechnical aspects of projects consisting of earthen embankments and related infrastructure;
  • Supporting risk analysis, risk-informed decision making, and other aspects of risk practice for dams and related infrastructure;
  • Providing geotechnical site characterization program, execution and evaluation.
  • Conducting fieldwork and overnight travel (e.g., site inspections for dams);
  • Assisting with preparation of engineering reports, design calculations, drawings, and technical specifications for relevant projects;
  • Preparing and delivering presentations and engaging in technical discussions with colleagues and clients;
  • Assisting with developing and preparing proposals;
  • Supporting the broadening of our practice through recruiting, team development, and mentorship; and
  • Drive personal, company, and rental vehicles to client or company project or office sites, and other business locations, as needed. 

Education and Licensure

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field. (required)
  • Advanced degree in civil engineering or related field. (preferred)
  • Professional registration (i.e., P.E.). (preferred)

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • At least 5 years (7+ years preferred) of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
  • Experience with modeling/design tools such as AUTOCAD, Slope/W, and ARCGIS. (preferred)
  • Excellent writing and communication skills. (required)
  • Experience with multi-disciplinary project teams. (required)
  • Regional visibility through involvement in professional associations or trade organizations. (preferred)
  • Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing may be required.
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required) 

 

This opportunity will be posted for at least five days. Below are the potential compensation ranges that we in good faith believe are applicable for this role at the time of this posting and are only applicable for jobs to be performed in the specified location(s) below. The typical base salary range for this position is just one component of Geosyntec’s total compensation package for employees. Actual compensation will be determined based on education, experience, skill set and location.

  • Minimum Salary: $101,675/year / Maximum Salary: $152,575/year (Los Angeles, CA)
  • Minimum Salary: $97,255/year / Maximum Salary: $145,940/year (Davis, CA)
