Luskin Orthopaedic Institute for Children (Luskin OIC) is seeking a skilled and compassionate MRI Technologist to join our Advanced Imaging team. This role is ideal for an experienced imaging professional who combines strong technical expertise with a patient-centered approach and takes pride in creating a safe, reassuring experience for patients and families.

As an MRI Technologist, you will perform high-quality diagnostic MRI examinations while working closely with radiologists, physicians, nurses, and clinical staff. You will also have the opportunity to support multimodality imaging, including X-ray, fluoroscopy, and CT, making this an excellent opportunity for a well-rounded imaging professional.

What You'll Do: 
  • Perform diagnostic MRI examinations in accordance with established protocols and departmental standards.
  • Provide safe, high-quality imaging for pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
  • Accurately verify patient identity, demographics, examination details, and site of injury prior to imaging.
  • Conduct comprehensive MRI safety screening of patients, staff, and visitors, including evaluation for:
    • Ferromagnetic objects.
    • Electrically conductive items.
    • Medical implants and devices.
    • Other MRI contraindications and safety concerns.
  • Maintain a safe MRI environment and demonstrate knowledge of MRI safety zones, emergency procedures, MRI quench, and cryogen safety.
  • Ensure equipment, accessories, supplies, and other items entering the MRI environment are appropriate for use.
  • Position patients appropriately and select imaging techniques, protocols, contrast media, immobilization devices, and safety equipment based on the examination.
  • Prepare and administer contrast media as appropriate and within scope of practice.
  • Support patients experiencing claustrophobia, anxiety, or emotional distress by providing clear communication, reassurance, and compassionate care.
  • Safely lift, transfer, and position patients as needed.
  • Educate patients and families about imaging procedures and address questions or concerns.
  • Maintain efficient patient flow throughout the department.
  • Perform X-ray, fluoroscopy, and/or CT examinations as needed.
  • Operate and maintain MRI and imaging equipment according to manufacturer recommendations and departmental procedures.
  • Clean and care for imaging equipment and accessories and report maintenance or service needs.
  • Monitor and maintain imaging supplies and notify leadership when inventory needs to be replenished.
  • Protect patient confidentiality and maintain compliance with HIPAA and applicable state and federal regulations.
  • Build strong working relationships with physicians, nurses, radiologists, and other members of the Luskin OIC team.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Demonstrate knowledge of protocols used across different clinics and physician practices.
  • Remain calm and effective when working with anxious, pediatric, or medically complex patients.
  • Consistently prioritize patient safety, MRI safety, image quality, and exceptional patient care.

What We're Looking For: 
Required:
  • Associate degree or certificate in Radiologic Technology from an accredited JRCERT program.
  • Current ARRT certification in MRI and Radiologic Technology, as applicable to the position.
  • Current California CRT and CRT Fluoroscopy certification.
  • Current BLS/CPR certification.
  • Strong knowledge of MRI safety principles and procedures.
  • Working knowledge of applicable state and federal regulations.
  • Ability to safely lift, transfer, and position patients.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative healthcare environment.


Preferred:
  • 5+ years of experience in a clinical imaging or healthcare setting.
  • Experience working with pediatric and adolescent patients.
  • Experience performing multiple imaging modalities, including MRI, X-ray, fluoroscopy, and/or CT.
  • Siemens MRI experience.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish skills.
