Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Patient Registration Representative, you will ensure a positive patient experience during registration, employing excellent customer service.Every day, you will identify patients, collect accurate demographics, verify insurance, determine/collect financial liability, and explain hospital policies and patient rights to families.To be successful, you must demonstrate exceptional customer service, meticulous attention to detail in data/insurance, and strong communication skills, all of which are crucial for patient satisfaction and reimbursement.

  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of specific registration requirements for all areas, including but not limited to: Main Admitting, OP Registration, ED Registration, Maternity, Behavioral Health Unit, and Rehabilitation units.
  • Ensures complete, accurate, and timely entry of demographic information into the ADT system at the time of registration.
  • Properly identifies the patient to ensure medical record numbers are not duplicated.
  • Responsible for reviewing assigned accounts to ensure accuracy and that required documentation is obtained and completed.
  • Meets CMS billing requirements for the completion of the MSP, issuance of the Important Message from Medicare, issuance of the Observation Notice, and other requirements, as applicable, and documents completion within the hospital's information system for regulatory compliance and audit purposes.
  • Collects and enters required data into the ADT system with emphasis on accuracy of demographic and financial information to ensure appropriate reimbursement.

 This position is represented by SEIU-UHW and is covered by the terms and conditions of the applicable collective bargaining agreement.

Job Requirements

Required

  • High School Graduate or GED
  • Applicable education and/or training can be used to balance a lack of experience
  • Minimum 1 year of experience working in a hospital Patient Registration department, physician office setting, healthcare insurance company, revenue cycle vendor, and/or other revenue cycle related roles
  • Experience in requesting and processing financial payments
  • Fire Safety, within 90 Days

Preferred

  • Minimum 2 years of experience
