Technical Service Engineer

Summary

The Technical Service Engineer is a customer-facing engineering role within Zeochem's Sales and Technical Services team. This position supports customers who use Zeochem's molecular sieve, adsorbent, and catalyst products in industrial manufacturing and process applications.

Working closely with customers, Sales, Manufacturing, and Technical Services, the Technical Service Engineer provides technical support, analyzes process and performance data, investigates operational issues, and develops engineering recommendations to optimize product performance and customer satisfaction. This is not a software, IT, telecommunications, or installation role. Success in this position requires the application of chemical engineering principles, process troubleshooting, data analysis, and direct interaction with industrial customers and manufacturing operations.

The role offers a unique combination of engineering analysis, customer engagement, technical problem-solving, and field support. Responsibilities include evaluating customer systems, collecting and analyzing operating data, preparing technical recommendations, and supporting product applications through periodic travel to customer and manufacturing sites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to customers and sales personnel by answering technical questions, troubleshooting application issues, and supporting the successful use of Zeochem products in industrial processes.
  • Travel to customer sites (up to approximately 20 days per quarter) to collect operating data, evaluate system performance, perform unit optimization testing, investigate customer concerns, and support problem-solving activities.
  • Analyze field, laboratory, manufacturing, and market data to identify trends, evaluate product performance, and develop engineering recommendations using established engineering practices and Zeochem proprietary design tools.
  • Support customer issue resolution through root cause investigations, corrective action activities, process improvement initiatives, and product performance evaluations.
  • Prepare technical reports, presentations, design recommendations, and application guidance for customers, sales personnel, and internal stakeholders.
  • Work closely with R&D, Quality Control, Manufacturing, Sales, and Technical Services teams to develop testing programs, coordinate sample analysis, and support new and existing product applications.
  • Represent Zeochem during customer meetings, training events, conferences, and trade shows while providing technical support for sales and business development activities.
  • Maintain technical databases, project records, field service equipment, and testing instrumentation while following all safety, quality, and ISO procedures.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related technical field required; equivalent industrial experience may be considered.
  • 0-3 years of engineering, technical service, manufacturing, laboratory, or related industrial experience. Internship, co-op, or prior experience in chemical manufacturing, process engineering, technical service, or industrial operations is strongly preferred.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and data interpretation skills with the ability to analyze process data, troubleshoot operational issues, and develop practical engineering solutions.
  • Experience with data analysis, technical reporting, and Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills with the ability to effectively communicate technical information to customers, plant operators, engineers, managers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and collaborate effectively across Sales, Manufacturing, R&D, Quality, and Technical Services teams.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to customer and manufacturing locations to support field testing, troubleshooting, and customer service activities.

Additional Information

  • Travel is expected to be up to approximately 40% of working time and may include domestic and international travel.
  • A valid driver's license and passport are required.
  • Ability to travel with field service equipment and instrumentation weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Typical schedule is Monday through Friday; additional hours may be required based on customer and business needs.
