Description
We're looking for a detail-oriented Inventory Control Specialist to manage and maintain accurate inventory records across our organization. You'll play a critical role in optimizing stock levels, ensuring data integrity, and supporting operational efficiency through effective inventory management and process improvement.Â
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Conduct regular physical inventory counts and cycle counts to verify accuracy and reconcile discrepancies
- Process and verify inventory receipts, confirming accuracy of quantities, quality, and documentation
- Input and maintain inventory data in the warehouse management system (WMS) with precision
- Identify and investigate inventory variances, obsolete items, and slow-moving stock
- Prepare detailed inventory reports and analysis for management review and decision-making
- Organize and maintain proper storage location identification and labeling systems
- Assist in developing and implementing inventory control procedures and process improvements
- Support year-end physical inventory counts and audit preparations
- Communicate inventory status to relevant departments and escalate issues promptly
Requirements
Skills/Abilities:
- Proficiency with warehouse management systems (WMS) and inventory software
- Strong Excel skills with demonstrated data analysis experience
- Proficiency with barcode scanning and RFID technology
- Knowledge of inventory valuation methods (FIFO, LIFO, weighted average)
- Ability to operate warehouse equipment (forklifts, pallet jacks)—certification preferred
- Solid understanding of inventory management principles and best practices
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities
- Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking skills
- Self-motivated with ability to work independently and take initiative
- Adaptable and willing to learn new systems and technologies
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED; Associate degree in logistics, supply chain, or related field preferred
- 2-5 years of experience in inventory control, warehouse operations, or supply chain management
Physical Requirements:
- While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk and sit. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 - 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus.
Working Conditions:
- May require occasional weekend or shift work depending on business needs
- Exposure to warehouse environment including noise, dust, and temperature fluctuationsÂ
- May require travel to other facility locationsÂ
