Job Summary
The Costing Analyst will be responsible for analyzing and tracking the costs associated with manufacturing and production at Stephen Joseph Companies. This includes evaluating product costs, tracking expenses, and providing insights to help optimize the company's profitability. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a deep understanding of cost structures in a retail and manufacturing environment.
- Analyze and calculate the cost of materials, labor, and overhead for all products, including children’s clothing, homewares, and personalized merchandise.
- Monitor and track manufacturing costs to ensure they align with budgeted projections.
- Work closely with the Finance and Production teams to identify cost-saving opportunities and process improvements.
- Develop and maintain cost models and pricing strategies for new products and existing lines.
- Conduct variance analysis to assess differences between actual and projected costs, providing recommendations for improvement.
- Prepare detailed reports on product costs, cost structures, and profitability for upper management.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations for improving profit margins and reducing operational costs.
- Assist in the preparation of financial forecasts and budgets, ensuring accurate cost data is incorporated.
- Collaborate with supply chain and inventory teams to ensure the accurate cost of raw materials and finished goods.
- Ensure that costing practices comply with industry standards and internal company guidelines.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience in a costing, finance, or accounting role, preferably in manufacturing or retail.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel; experience with ERP or costing software is a plus.
- Knowledge of cost accounting principles and manufacturing processes.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to present cost analysis findings clearly.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to remain seated for extended periods while working on a computer or desk.
- Ability to lift and move office equipment or files up to 25 pounds when necessary.
- Ability to communicate effectively in person, on the telephone, and through written correspondence.
