Position Summary

The Statehouse Host is the first point of contact for guests, warmly welcoming them and setting the tone for an exceptional dining experience. This role requires strong communication and organizational skills to manage reservations, waitlists, and guest seating efficiently while supporting the overall operations of the restaurant. Hosts play a critical part in ensuring guests feel valued, comfortable, and cared for throughout their visit.

Essential Job Functions

• Greet and seat guests promptly, present menus, and inform them of daily specials.
• Monitor the floor plan to track table status and manage guest flow efficiently.
• Take guest information and accurately quote wait times when tables are unavailable.
• Manage reservations, waiting lists, and seating assignments with attention to detail.
• Answer incoming calls, provide restaurant information, and assist with reservations or room service orders.
• Maintain a clean and organized host area, menus, restrooms, and entryway.
• Distribute parking vouchers and monitor coat check when applicable.
• Interact with guests throughout arrival and departure to ensure satisfaction.
• Support colleagues by assisting with light service or operational needs when required.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Working Conditions

This position operates in both indoor and outdoor settings, behind the bar, in the dining area, and in an office environment. The role may require extended hours, high-volume periods, and work in varying weather conditions. This role operates in a busy restaurant environment, using standard equipment including POS systems, commercial glassware washers, and bar tools. 

Employees may be exposed to various workplace hazards, including but not limited to cuts, slips, trips, pinching, falls, and burns.

Physical Requirements

This is an active role requiring frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching. The position involves regular lifting of up to 10 lbs and occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
