Position Overview

Quest & Anden are seeking a high-potential, early-career engineer to join our commercial team as a Sales & Technical Support Associate. This role is designed as a development position for an individual interested in building a career at the intersection of engineering, HVAC applications, and technical sales.

The Associate will begin by developing a deep understanding of our products, engineering principles, applications, customers, distribution channels, and go-to-market strategy. Working closely with Sales, Engineering, Technical Support, and our customers and channel partners, this individual will gain hands-on experience across the full customer lifecycle—from initial lead and application development through quotation, system design, installation, and post-sale support.

The intended career path for a successful individual is progression into a Regional Sales Manager position, typically within approximately 12–24 months, based on demonstrated performance, technical competency, commercial readiness, and business needs.

This is an on-site position based in Madison, WI. Future Regional Sales Manager responsibilities can remain Wisconsin-based, with increased travel to support the assigned territory.

Key Responsibilities

Product & Technical Development

  • Develop deep technical knowledge of Quest and Anden dehumidification products, controls, applications, and system design.
  • Learn the fundamentals of dehumidification, psychometrics, HVAC systems, load calculations, equipment selection, installation, and troubleshooting.
  • Work alongside Engineering and Technical Support to understand product design, performance, application limitations, and field conditions.
  • Assist customers, contractors, distributors, and sales representatives with equipment selection, application questions, system design, installation, and troubleshooting.
  • Develop the ability to independently diagnose technical issues and recommend appropriate solutions.
  • Participate in product training, application reviews, field visits, and customer installations to build practical product and application knowledge.

Inside Sales & Commercial Support

  • Follow up on inbound leads and help qualify customer opportunities.
  • Support customers and sales representatives with product selection, quotations, technical documentation, and application/design assistance.
  • Work with the Director of Sales and Regional Sales Managers to advance opportunities through the sales process.
  • Provide responsive pre-sale and post-sale technical support to customers, contractors, distributors, and channel partners.
  • Develop an understanding of Quest and Anden’s customers, competitors, market segments, distribution strategy, and overall go-to-market approach.
  • Maintain accurate customer and opportunity information within the company’s CRM and sales systems.
  • Identify opportunities to improve the customer experience and help accelerate the sales process.

Field Sales Development

As technical and commercial competency develops, responsibilities will progressively expand to include:

  • Accompanying Regional Sales Managers on customer, distributor, contractor, and representative visits.
  • Participating in industry events, trade shows, product demonstrations, and customer training.
  • Conducting product and technical presentations.
  • Developing relationships with contractors, distributors, representatives, engineers, and end users.
  • Participating in territory planning and account-development activities.
  • Independently managing selected customer opportunities and accounts.
  • Building the commercial and technical skills necessary to assume responsibility for a regional sales territory.

Travel is expected to begin at approximately 10% and increase progressively as the Associate gains experience and moves toward field sales responsibilities.

Career Development

This position is specifically designed to develop future commercial leaders within the Quest & Anden organization. During the first 12–24 months, the Associate will build competency across four critical areas:

Technical Expertise

Develop a strong understanding of dehumidification, HVAC systems, product engineering, equipment application, and troubleshooting.

Customer & Market Knowledge
Understand our customers, applications, market segments, competitors, distribution channels, and how Quest & Anden create value within the market.

Commercial Skills
Develop experience in lead qualification, opportunity management, quoting, technical selling, customer communication, negotiation, and account development.

Field Sales Readiness
Demonstrate the ability to independently develop relationships, identify opportunities, communicate technical value, solve customer problems, and ultimately manage a regional sales territory.

Successful performance in the role is intended to prepare the Associate for advancement into a Regional Sales Manager position.

  • Recent graduate or early-career professional with an interest in technical sales and HVAC.

What We’re Looking For

Successful candidates will be:

  • Curious – Wants to understand how products, systems, customers, and markets work.
  • Technically capable – Enjoys solving engineering and application problems.
  • Commercially minded – Interested in understanding customer needs and turning technical solutions into business opportunities.
  • Competitive – Motivated by goals, results, and continuous improvement.
  • Customer focused – Enjoys interacting with people and solving real-world problems.
  • Coachable – Actively seeks feedback and applies it quickly.
  • Self-directed – Takes ownership and does not wait to be told what needs to happen next.
  • Comfortable communicating – Able to build credibility with engineers, contractors, distributors, sales representatives, and end users.
  • Growth oriented – Interested in developing beyond an inside role and ultimately assuming responsibility for a regional sales territory.

Why This Role

This is not intended to be a traditional technical support position.

It is an opportunity to learn the business from the inside out—developing technical expertise in our products and applications while gaining direct exposure to customers, sales strategy, distribution, and field execution.

For an engineer who enjoys working with people and wants to build a career in technical sales, this position provides a structured pathway from engineering and application support into a Regional Sales Manager role with increasing customer, territory, and commercial responsibility.
