Specialist I - Materials Management

About Site

Catalent’s Madison, Wisconsin site is a state‑of‑the‑art biologics development and manufacturing facility supporting customers from research through early‑ and mid‑stage clinical production. Located at 726 Heartland Trail in Madison, the approximately 102,700‑square‑foot GMP facility specializes in mammalian cell line engineering, drug substance biomanufacturing, and biopharmaceutical development, utilizing flexible single‑use systems to enable rapid scale‑up and customization. The site is home to Catalent’s proprietary GPEx® and GPEx® Lightning technologies, which are used to generate high‑yielding mammalian cell lines for biologic therapies, and supports production scales ranging from 50 to 4,000 liters for clinical manufacturing. Following a $45 million expansion announced in 2025, the Madison site has significantly increased capacity, added new equipment, and created approximately 200 highly skilled biohealth jobs, further strengthening its role within Catalent’s global biologics network and Wisconsin’s growing life sciences ecosystem.

Position Summary

We have an opportunity for a Specialist I - Materials Management to join our team. This role supports warehouse operations, inventory control, and shipping activities in a dynamic environment. You will work with a collaborative team to ensure timely and accurate handling of materials while maintaining compliance with safety and quality standards. This position offers the chance to contribute to critical processes that support the development and manufacturing of life-changing biologics.

Shift: Monday - Friday - 8 am - 4 pm
Location: Madison, WI
100% Onsite

The Role

  • Pick, stock, verify, and deliver materials using First Expired, First Out (FEFO) basis

  • Manage all work orders including printing, picking, staging, issuing, and closing materials

  • Prepare and coordinate domestic and international shipments, including required documentation

  • Receive, inspect, label, and store incoming materials in the appropriate system and location

  • Handle materials using warehouse equipment, ensure safe transport between locations, and maintain inventory records including cycle counts

  • Support freezer and cooler operations, temperature monitoring, and preventive maintenance activities

  • Ensure compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), and safety standards while maintaining an organized work area

  • Perform other duties as assigned

The Candidate

Minimum Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • 1–2 years of experience in shipping, warehouse, or materials operations

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in warehouse and cold storage environments

Preferred Skills & Background

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver’s license and operate company vehicle

  • Experience operating warehouse equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and scanners preferred

  • Experience with inventory systems such as JD Edwards or similar preferred

  • Experience in pharmaceutical, food manufacturing, or cGMP environment preferred

  • Knowledge of shipping processes, including international documentation, preferred

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)

  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
