Mammoth Hospital’s orthopedic program provides comprehensive musculoskeletal and sports medicine care to an active local population as well as athletes and visitors from throughout the region. This is an opportunity for an experienced Physician Assistant who enjoys a balanced mix of surgery and outpatient orthopedics while working closely with fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeons and an experienced sports medicine team. The position offers a three-day-per-week schedule, typically consisting of one day in the operating room and two days in clinic, along with relocation assistance and a shared call rotation. It is a unique opportunity to build a rewarding orthopedic career while enjoying everything the Eastern Sierra has to offer. What You'll Do: Provide orthopedic care in both the outpatient and inpatient settings in collaboration with attending orthopedic surgeons. Evaluate patients, develop treatment plans, order and interpret appropriate diagnostic studies, and manage medications and adjunctive therapies within the PA scope of practice. Participate in multidisciplinary care and communicate treatment plans with physicians, nursing staff, therapists, patients, and families. Coordinate hospital discharge planning, follow-up care, patient education, and rehabilitation needs. Perform histories and physicals and assist with the evaluation and management of urgent orthopedic conditions. First assist in orthopedic surgery, including surgical exposure, dissection, wound closure, dressing application, and placement of immobilization devices. Work closely with our orthopedic surgeons, athletic trainers, rehabilitation professionals, and other members of our sports medicine team. Participate in a shared first-assist call rotation with the PA team, typically about one weekend every six weeks, with occasional holiday coverage. Who You'll Work With: You’ll join a collaborative orthopedic and sports medicine program caring for a highly active patient population. Our team includes fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeons, physician assistants, athletic trainers, physical therapists, and other professionals who work together closely across clinic, surgery, rehabilitation, and community sports medicine. The variety of patients and injuries seen in Mammoth makes this an especially rewarding environment for a PA interested in orthopedics and sports medicine. American Heart Association or American Red Cross BLS certification required. DEA license required. Three years of experience providing inpatient, outpatient, and surgical care preferred. Orthopedic and/or surgical experience strongly preferred.
