A team that counts on you. Start with HIT. Keeps HIT buildings, grounds, vehicles, tools, and equipment safe, functional, and well-maintained. Responds to routine and urgent repairs, performs preventive maintenance, and coordinates outside vendors when specialized work is needed. Key Responsibilities: Inspect buildings, grounds, vehicles, and equipment for damage, hazards, and maintenance needs. Complete maintenance requests, repairs, and preventive maintenance within training and authorization. Identify and address safety concerns and arrange qualified contractors when needed. Maintain accurate work orders, inspection records, purchases, repairs, vehicle service, and related costs. Obtain bids and assist with purchasing for maintenance projects. Safely operate vehicles, hand tools, power tools, and other equipment. Follow all safety procedures, manufacturer guidelines, PPE requirements, traffic laws, and HIT policies. Organize daily work, prioritize urgent requests, and communicate updates or delays. Maintain reliable communication while working and during assigned on-call periods. Respond to urgent maintenance needs after hours when scheduled for on-call duty. All hours worked are recorded and compensated according to applicable law and HIT policy. QualificationsEducation & Experience High school diploma or equivalent and 3 years of related building, grounds, vehicle, equipment, or facilities maintenance experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Knowledge of basic preventive maintenance, minor repairs, tools, materials, and safe work practices. Ability to follow safety rules, work orders, manuals, diagrams, and schedules. Ability to document work, maintain records, communicate effectively, and use basic electronic systems. Basic math skills for measurements, quantities, costs, rates, ratios, percentages, and estimates. Ability to troubleshoot routine maintenance issues, prioritize requests, use good judgment, and recognize when specialized assistance is needed. Licenses & Driving Requirements Valid driver’s license required. Must meet HIT’s vehicle-use and insurance requirements. Physical & Environmental Requirements Frequently stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, grasp, and handle tools/materials. Work on uneven surfaces and occasionally climb ladders or similar equipment. Regularly lift, carry, push, and pull tools and materials; occasionally lift up to 100 lbs. with appropriate assistance. Ability to safely operate vehicles and tools, inspect work, read labels/instructions, and identify hazards. Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions, with possible exposure to mechanical equipment, dust, chemicals, electrical hazards, vibration, and noise.
