Job Title: Plant Utilities Maintenance Engineer

Description / Scope / Mission

Responsible for supervising all installation, repair and maintenance operations of an organization’s facilities. Ensure you have the proper physical resources available to perform their tasks within the assigned budget.

 

 

Key Responsibilities/ Accountabilities

  1. Conduct facility inspections to identify and solve problems. Plan and supervise all installation and repair activities.
  2. Develop all necessary equipment modifications or coordinate equipment and parts purchasing.
  3. Lead and direct facilities management maintenance requirements. Monitoring of the company procedures regarding cleanliness, operation and appearance of the building internally and externally.
  4. Prepare Maintenance departmental budget sheets and capital budget.  Maintain expenditures within budget.
  5. Provide on-going production maintenance.
  6. Manage relationships with contractors and service providers.
  7. Contribute to the company Safety Program and ensure that the company is following all OSHA requirements, as it applies to the Maintenance function.
  8. Support company needs regarding Worker’s Compensation and insurance audits/claims.
  9. Monitor equipment inventory and place orders when necessary.
  10. Work with Production and Distribution to ensure that hazardous material and waste are handled within environmental compliance.
  11. Actively participate in and implement corporate Safety Committee and QEC recommendations.
  12. Maintain maintenance records

Education / Certification / Qualifications / Experience

  • High School Diploma
  • Associate degree – supervisory management or equivalent experience.
  • Project Management – education or experience.
  • Mechanical, plumbing, electrical system installations-education.
  • 5-10 years supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment with maintenance emphasis.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA, ANSI, NFPA, NEC, DNR, and EPA standards as well as general building code and safe work practices.

 

 

LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIRED:

  • Journeyman license maintenance or equivalent experience.

Electrician license.

  • Ability to adjust focus (ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus).

 

TOOLS/EQUIPMENT USED:

  • Various hand tools, welding equipment, computer, telephone, copier and fax.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PPE REQUIRED:

  • Exposure to wet, humid conditions (non-weather); work in high, precarious places; exposure to fumes or airborne particles; exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals; exposure to outdoor weather conditions; risk of electrical shock; exposure to vibration; and work/job related travel up to 1/3 of the time.
  • Work near moving mechanical parts 1/3 to 2/3 of the time.
