The Manufacturing Buyer is responsible for working directly with approved suppliers to purchase various items or materials (raw materials, MRO, semi-fabricated parts, packaging materials and finished product for resale) supplied from requisitions and/or master scheduling information. The position will be responsible for tracking inventory levels of purchased components and ensure a steady flow of materials for manufacturing.

1. Work directly with suppliers as the face of the Company to purchase materials and ensure that suppliers are accountable relative to on time delivery, quantity, quality and price.
2. Oversee the control of inventory on consumed materials, reworks, and retrofits. Initiate orders as needed to maintain appropriate inventory levels, while maintaining the most effective inventory turns for the business.
3. Advise internal customer of changes in delivery dates or of possible alternative sources and recovery plans.
4. Enter orders into purchasing systems and issue copies of purchase orders. 
5. Communication with vendors regarding delivery schedules and quality issues.
6. Coordinate with Logistics to assure on-time delivery.
7. Monitor receipts for shortages and overages and partner with AP on invoice discrepancy resolution.
8. Participate in the regular core team meetings as assigned, supporting procurement of new/prototype materials and external processes.
9. Participate in cost savings initiatives.
10. Perform other duties as required within the nature and level of work.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in supply chain and one (1) year of related experience are required.
  • APICS (American Production and Inventory Control Society)/CSCP (Certified Supply Chain Professional) certification preferred.  
  • MRP (material requirements planning) knowledge is preferred.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing pull systems, inventory, and bill of materials is a plus.
  • Must possess a strong analytical and reasoning ability.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the company and suppliers.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite.

Physical Demand Requirements

Occasionally required to stand, walk or sit; use hands to grasp, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; use fingers to touch, pick or pinch objects; reach with hands and arms; push or pull; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; use foot or leg controls; talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 25 pounds. For all jobs no one should lift over 50lbs on their own. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
