Responsibilities
- Assess patients and provide respiratory care based on individual needs and provider orders.
- Administer oxygen, respiratory medications, and bronchial hygiene therapies.
- Manage invasive and non-invasive ventilation and assist with airway support.
- Collect arterial blood gas samples and support related testing and analysis.
- Perform EKGs, bedside monitoring, and respiratory assessments.
- Assist with cardiac stress testing, bronchoscopy, and other procedures.
- Respond as part of the care team during medical emergencies, rapid responses, trauma events, and cardiac emergencies.
- Provide respiratory care to patients throughout various hospital units.
- Perform pulmonary function testing after completing appropriate training.
- Share respiratory care knowledge with students, nursing staff, and other team members.
Qualifications
Education:Â
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Therapy from an accredited program required.Â
- Graduate of a CoARC approved Respiratory Care program required.Â
License(s)/Certification(s):Â
- Must have current licensure in good standing to practice as a Respiratory Care Practitioner in State(s) of Practice required.Â
- Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) OR Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with the NBRC at time of hire.
