Job Summary:
This position is primarily responsible greeting and checking in patients, scheduling patients, collecting co-payments, answering the department’s telephone, and accepting/scanning new patient registration documents into the EHR while maintaining the BHS wait list. In times of need, to also be responsible for collecting patient vitals and assisting with group therapy sessions as requested.
Job Duties:
- Answers telephone in a friendly and professional manner and forwards calls to appropriate personnel in a timely manner.
- Assists patients as needed in the proper completion of registration, and financial forms; answers any questions to
ensure patient understanding in a clear and effective manner. - Creates encounter for all patients with an appointment, ensuring that address, telephone, and other demographic
information and payer information is correct in Practice Management. - Schedules appointments for patients in an accurate and timely manner.
- Obtains patient paperwork ensuring accuracy and completeness to meet departmental and SVMS standard procedures.
- Verify, scan, and maintain all patient insurance information.
- Performs other duties assigned by supervisor.
Essential Skills and Education Requirements:
- Must have a high school diploma or the equivalent with some college course work in a related field preferred.
- Previous experience in a behavior health setting or medical office setting preferred.
- Previous experience performing reception duties with behavior health for substance abuse clients is preferred.
- Must have excellent data entry and computer skills, including experience with Medical Manager, or Next Gen.
- Must have strong communication and customer service skills.
- Prior experience scheduling patients and dealing with medical records is preferred.
