Position Summary
The Warehouse/Packaging Operator is responsible for operating warehouse and packaging equipment to support the production and shipment of bagged and bulk products. This position assists with packaging, palletizing, material handling, forklift operation, and bulk truck loading. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in a fast-paced industrial environment and is able to perform a variety of warehouse duties as needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Follow all safety procedures, workplace rules, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
- Operate packaging equipment, including bagging, shrink wrapping, conveying, palletizing, stretch wrapping, and pallet-handling equipment.
- Perform routine maintenance and basic troubleshooting on warehouse and production equipment.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary work area.
- Operate a forklift to load trucks and transport packaging materials, empty bags, wrapping materials, and other supplies.
- Assist with the pre-loading, loading, inspection, and weighing of bulk trucks.
- Coordinate with other warehouse employees to ensure the efficient movement, packaging, palletizing, wrapping, and storage of finished products.
- Inspect packaged products for quality, consistency, proper labeling/coding, and package integrity.
- Monitor equipment and facility conditions and report maintenance or safety concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
- Follow emergency procedures and instructions during emergency situations.
- Perform other warehouse and packaging duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Ability to work all shifts and be available for overtime as needed.
- Ability to work extended hours, including up to 12-hour shifts and 7 days per week when required.
- Basic understanding of material flow and warehouse/production processes.
- Ability to operate forklifts and other warehouse equipment safely.
- Familiarity with common hand and power tools.
- Comfortable operating basic electrical and electronic equipment.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
