About the Role
You will own the battery room. Your job is to keep the facility's electric forklift fleet charged, maintained, and ready to run every shift without exception. This is a safety-critical, hands-on role at a large distribution operation that runs 24 hours a day, 365 days a year (Christmas Day is the only exception). If you do not show up, the fleet does not run. We are looking for people who take that seriously.
Pay is up to $25/hr based on experience. Candidates with direct battery room or distribution center maintenance experience will be prioritized at the top of the range. Strong mechanical candidates from adjacent trades will also be considered -- if your hands-on background is solid, we will train you on the specifics.
What You Will Do
Perform routine lead-acid battery maintenance: watering, cleaning, equalization, and capacity testing
Execute battery changeouts and swaps to keep lift trucks running throughout each shift
Inspect chargers, connectors, and cables; perform basic repairs and flag issues for escalation
Monitor charge and discharge cycles and maintain accurate maintenance logs
Troubleshoot underperforming batteries using voltmeters, hydrometers, and diagnostic tools
Keep the battery room clean, organized, and in full compliance with OSHA safety requirements
Handle and neutralize electrolyte spills using proper PPE and procedures
Coordinate with forklift operators to schedule battery swaps with minimal disruption to operations
What You Need
Required:
High school diploma or GED
1 to 2 years of hands-on experience in a battery room, industrial maintenance, warehouse maintenance, or a closely related skilled trades role
Familiarity with lead-acid battery maintenance procedures (watering, equalization, specific gravity testing)
Experience following OSHA safety protocols and using PPE in a maintenance environment
Ability to lift 50+ lbs and safely operate battery lifts and hoists
Reliable attendance -- this operation does not have a backup plan if you do not show up
Preferred:
Direct battery room experience in a distribution center, warehouse, or logistics facility
Working knowledge of DC electrical systems and battery charging principles
Forklift operator certification
OSHA 10 or 30 (General Industry)
Charger fault, bad cell, or connector troubleshooting experience
Will also consider:
Candidates from auto/diesel mechanics, HVAC, or industrial electrical backgrounds with transferable mechanical skills and a strong safety foundation
What to Expect
Fixed schedule -- same shift every week, no rotation
PPE provided on day one (steel toe boots required; bring your own)
Safety-first environment at an established, well-run distribution facility
W-2 employment through Mural Group -- not 1099
Mural Group contributes $500 per month toward health insurance, which fully covers an individual employee
Long-term contract with opportunity to grow into a lead technician role
