Position OverviewÂ
Commercial Tire, an employee-owned and operated company, is looking for a dedicated individual for the OTR Repair Tech position. This individual must safely perform specialized in-shop inspection, skiving, section repair, and curing tasks on large earthmover, agricultural, construction, and mining tires. An emphasis is placed on producing high-quality repairs that conform to Commercial Tire specifications and industry safety standards.

Key Responsibilities
- Safety First:Â Adheres to and supports strict shop safety guidelines, heavy-lifting protocols, and safe tire handling standards.
- OTR Inspection & Diagnosis:Â Conducts thorough non-destructive inspections of large OTR tire casings to identify hidden damage, deep lacerations, and determine repairability.
- Skiving & Injury Preparation:Â Safely operates pneumatic grinders and routers to gouge and remove damaged steel cords and rubber, creating clean skive channels.
- Section Repair Fabrication:Â Builds reinforcing structures inside the tire carcass using specialized uncured, heat-cure, or dual-cure OTR repair patches and plies.
- Cushion Gum & Plugging:Â Fills skived injury channels with raw rubber compound/cushion gum utilizing extruder guns to prepare the section for vulcanization.
- Vulcanization & Curing:Â Operates section repair curing systems (such as REMA Thermopress or Monaflex heat pads/airbags) to complete the heat-curing cycle.
- Equipment Maintenance:Â Performs minor maintenance on specialized shop tools and machines, ensuring the work area remains organized, clean, and hazard-free.
- Quality Assurance:Â Maintains high-quality workmanship to maximize the operating lifespan of expensive earthmover and industrial tires.
- Warehouse: Assist in warehouse in between repairs and production — receiving freight, checking off orders, and pulling inventory using our tire location software

QualificationsÂ
- Must be 18 years of age
- Must have a valid driver’s license and be insurable
- High school Diploma or GED (preferred)

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL & ENVIRONMENTAL FUNCTIONS
Physical Demands:
- Standing: 80% | Walking: 70% | Sitting: 5%
- Frequent bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling, twisting, and walking on uneven surfaces
- Frequent lifting/carrying: up to 50 lbs; occasional lifting over 100 lbs
- Frequent use of hands and fingers for grasping and dexterity
- Constant visual, auditory, and verbal communication required
 Work Environment:
- Frequent exposure to noise, dirt, dust, mechanical vibration, fumes, and outdoor conditions

- Tire machines, compressors, air tools and hand tools
- Company-provided software and system for work orders and inventory
