SUMMARY

The Technical Sales & Business Development Manager will be identifying new markets, developing strategic customer relationships, and commercializing technologies that improve safety across multiple industries. Will work closely with customers, engineering, operations, and executive leadership to transform innovative ideas into successful products. From the earliest customer conversations through program launch, you'll help shape technologies that have the potential to protect lives around the world.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Drive Business Growth

  • Identify and develop new business opportunities that support Daicel’s long-term growth strategy across existing and emerging industries.
  • Build trusted relationships with emerging customers, industry partners, universities, research organizations and government agencies.

Lead Commercial Opportunities

  • Own the complete RFQ process from opportunity identification through quotation, negotiation and program award.
  • Develop competitive pricing strategies, business cases, and commercial proposals.
  • Lead customer meetings and technical presentations.

Collaborate Across the Organization

  • Partner closely with engineering, manufacturing, purchasing, quality, and program management to develop winning technical and commercial solutions.
  • Support successful product launches while ensuring customer expectations are exceeded.
  • Maintain accurate sales forecasts, opportunity pipeline, and CRM reporting.

Shape the Future of Safety

  • Research emerging technologies, industry trends, regulatory developments, and societal safety challenges.
  • Evaluate the commercial potential of new product concepts and emerging markets.
  • Represent and promote Daicel at trade shows, conferences, and industry events.

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business development, engineering, marketing, or related discipline.
  • 3-5 years of experience in technical sales, business development, or account management.
  • Experience managing RFQs, quotations, pricing strategies, and commercial negotiations.
  • Mechanical aptitude with an understanding of engineering principles.
  • Marketing and social media experience (i.e., LinkedIn) is preferred.
  • Experience working within Japanese business culture is a plus. 
  • Experience in safety-related industries is highly desirable.

The individual must be able to demonstrate proficiency in arithmetic, Microsoft Applications (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel) with an emphasis on spreadsheet preparation, a working knowledge of World Class manufacturing concepts (i.e. KanBan, Constraint Management), a strong desire to work in a team environment, and excellent communication, motivational and organizational skills. This positions also requires the ability to understand all policies, procedures, instructions, rules and regulations (including all safety training and safety information) associated with this position which are written in English. In addition, the individual must be able to appropriately respond to these and, where needed, provide reports, presentations, information and communications in English. The individual should be self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results in a fast-paced environment. Must be available to workdays, evenings, or weekends and overtime as required. Ability to travel domestically and internationally as business requires.

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in written and diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Must possess the ability to read, comprehend, and interpret complex data, drawings, schematics to design and implement new equipment or plan new experiments. Must be able to generate, adaptation or modification of process controls, procedures, and other related documentation. Requires interpretation of complex data for designing new devices or planning new experiments. Must be able to understand and apply DSSA, Inc. documentation including SOP, MI, PS, PMP, MSP, etc.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to lighting and temperature as required for the office and manufacturing areas. Appropriate safety equipment is required by area. There is potential exposure to hazardous chemicals. A considerable amount of moving from department to department may occur in unfavorable weather conditions. The employee is exposed to the inherent dangers of the explosive materials used in DSSA, Inc.’s manufacturing processes.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to move throughout the facility, traverse within production areas, communicate with others, and detect or exchange information or ideas. The employee occasionally is required to perform functions which require the manual operation of both general office productivity and manufacturing equipment as well as the ability to place, reach, detect, ascend/descend, and position self to navigate within confined working spaces. The employee is frequently required to remain in a stationary position. The employee must occasionally move or transport up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close inspection, identification of objects from a distance, color determination, peripheral detection, depth judgment, and the ability to identify details in varying conditions.
