The Associate Director of Alumni and Donor Relations will play a pivotal role in enhancing Barry University's reputation and fostering meaningful connections with its donors, alumni, and the broader community stakeholders. This individual will be responsible for supporting the strategic planning and execution of various communication initiatives aimed at promoting the university advancement's mission, vision, and philanthropic goals that maximize the success of the University’s fundraising efforts.

Publications, Mailings and Emails:

  • Curate at least 50 alumni and donor stories annually, to be used in a variety of channels (online, print, etc.)
  • Curate content and publish two magazines annually.
  • Co-write with Advancement leadership to publish the University Advancement annual impact and endowment report.
  • Collaborate with AVP of Alumni and Donor Relations and Senior Director of Alumni Relations, Annual Giving and Events to curate and mail annual giving solicitations. 
  • Ensure that the quality and relevance of content align with university goals and values.
  • Write, design and produce email communications including content development, formatting, proofing, testing, scheduling, audience coordination and distribution.

Student, Alumni and Donor Interviews:

  • Conduct interviews to obtain stories, quotes, and other material for use by University Advancement, for magazines, annual report, etc.
  • Create videos of students, alumni and donors, for use by University Advancement.
  • Ensure compliance with release policies of the University.

Editorial Services:

  • Write and edit from a philanthropic and alumni engagement perspective.
  • Write, edit and proofread external facing Advancement content.
  • Co-write with Advancement leadership to produce customized impact reports for university endowment and major donors.
  • Write, curate and manage social media posts across platforms.

Comprehensive Communication Strategy and Plan:

  • Maintain a 12-month calendar of communication and engagement activities, including email and social media outreach efforts.
  • Ensure all alumni, donors, and annual giving communication activities are integrated and streamlined.
  • Maintain a social media plan that includes a minimum of 3 posts a week, manage collaboration with the President’s page, Athletics, and other University pages.  
  • Collaborate with Advancement Services to send mass emails via Advancement’s communication platforms to various constituents.
  • Collaborate with the Alumni and Donor Relations team to ensure each signature event has a detailed marketing and communication strategy. 

Website Content:

  • Develop a cadence for reviewing and updating the content on any University Advancement websites. 
  • Develop material to include on the website. 

Other creative content:

  • Manage University Advancement’s digital advertising strategy, including social ads, press releases, and other brand functions to help increase, motivate and grow our alumni and donor base.
  • Collaborate with central marketing teams to ensure streamlined efforts with messaging.
  • Manage the end-to-end production of event recap videos for Advancement use, including filming, editing, and uploading finalized videos to appropriate platforms.
  • Support the team during events.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, Communications, Business or related field.
  • 3-5 years of related experience.
  • Proficiency in utilizing digital tools and platforms to enhance communication and outreach.
