Job Description The Maintenance Tech II performs preventive and corrective maintenance on all facility and building systems. Completes specialized repairs in areas of technical expertise. Performs other general tasks for the maintenance and upkeep of grounds, facility and site. Education High School (GED) education. A cumulative number of years experience may be considered, in a specific specialty trade. Examples of such are HVAC Technician, Refrigeration Technician, and/or experience in excess of seven years in a mechanical, electrical, carpentry or plumbing trade. Experience: Five years experience Knowledge Must become familiar with state and national regulatory codes for buildings, health care facilities and Joint Commission Environment of Care standards EC 2.6, EC 2.8 & EC 2.12. Must possess competent writing skills, computer skills and a basic competency in mathematics. Operation of standard office machines such as fax machines, label makers, calculators and copiers. Familiarity with Microsoft Windows applications such as Outlook, Excel and Word. Special Skills/Equipment: Depending upon placement; individuals may be asked to hold many certifications or licenses, examples: fiber optics spicing, category 3 & 5 cabling, Type I, II or III CFC certifications, class "S" State of Vermont Electrician License and Class II licensure from the National institute for the Uniform Licensing of Power Engineers (NIULPE). The ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work with frequent interruptions is required. Customer service orientation, and the ability to communicate and listen effectively. All incumbents shall become proficient in the use of the Hospital Equipment management system (HEMS) work order system.
