A specialised biotechnology organisation operating in medicine, science, and technology is appointing a Genetics Sales Consultant to drive in-field engagement and expand its healthcare practitioner network across assigned territories. Reporting to the Sales Manager and Product Manager for Genetics and Fertility, the role serves as a primary intermediary between healthcare professionals and head office operations, delivering technical guidance and promoting advanced genetic testing solutions.
Positioned within a growth-focused scientific environment, this full-time role focuses on establishing collaborative relationships with targeted practitioners, identifying operational bottlenecks, and optimising lead conversion. The successful candidate will leverage deep technical understanding of genetic test portfolios to ensure customer requirements are met while maintaining high ethical standards in all field interactions.
Key Responsibilities
Achieve and exceed established sales targets for promoted products across assigned geographic regions.
Secure and execute educational meetings with targeted healthcare practitioners, including Gynaecologists, Fetal Maternal Specialists, Theatre Sisters, Sonographers, and Genetic Counsellors across private practices, clinics, and hospitals.
Deliver technical product education, academic presentations, and in-service staff training regarding testing portfolios and underlying technologies.
Manage field stock, ensuring appropriate stock kit follow-up in collaboration with internal Client Services and Nurse Support networks to prevent stock expiration.
Log detailed call reports daily, capturing clear objectives, field insights, customer feedback, and prospective healthcare practitioner contacts.
Engage regional Key Opinion Leaders to establish advocacy for promoted genetic testing portfolios.
Represent the organisation at industry congresses, academic journal clubs, symposia, and webinars, including occasional weekend or public holiday commitments.
Ensure visibility and optimal distribution of marketing materials across targeted practices in alignment with commercial strategies.
Monitor market dynamics and competitor activities, submitting structured weekly feedback reports to commercial leadership.
Identify operational process bottlenecks, proposing practical solutions to line management to drive continuous improvement.
Requirements
Essential Requirements
BSc degree majoring in Genetics.
Minimum of 2 years of proven in-field medical, diagnostic, or pharmaceutical sales experience.
Ownership of a reliable motor vehicle for professional transport.
Track record of achieving sales targets using structured, question-based selling methodologies.
Deep understanding of genetic testing technologies, relevant medical sciences, and associated clinical applications.
Willingness to attend professional congresses, webinars, and events outside standard hours when required.
Desirable Requirements
Postgraduate qualification in Genetics or a related scientific discipline.
Established professional relationships with gynaecologists and maternal health specialists within the target territory.
