JOB SUMMARY
The Liberty County Board of Commissioners is seeking a dedicated and hardworking Road Maintenance Worker to join our Road Department team. This full-time position plays a vital role in keeping our community safe. MAJOR DUTIES
- Performs basic road repair and maintenance tasks.
- Performs grass cutting and tree trimming using tractors, trimmers, and edgers.
- Removes trash and debris from roadways.
- Assists in the installation and repair of pipes and other drainage structures.
- Performs traffic control and flagging activities as needed; follows safety rules and regulations on all work zone and flagging sites.
- Cleans and maintains assigned vehicle, tools, and equipment.
- Cleans and fixes roadway signs.
- Picks up parts and supplies, as needed.
- Transports voting machines to precincts during election season.
- Performs related duties.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE
- Safety rules and regulations.
- Proper placement of guide signs.
- Road maintenance and repair techniques.
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Ability to operate a variety of vehicles and equipment.
- Skilled in flagging traffic and establishing safe work zones.
- Ability to use hand and power tools.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT
- The work is typically performed while intermittently sitting, standing, walking, bending, crouching, or stooping. The employee frequently lifts light objects and occasionally lifts heavy objects, uses tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity, distinguishes between shades of color, and utilizes sense of smell.
- The work is typically performed in a noisy place or outdoors, occasionally in cold or inclement weather. The employee is exposed to dust, dirt, grease, machinery with moving parts, or irritating chemicals. Work requires use of protective devices such as masks, goggles, and gloves.
Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- More than six (6) months of related experience preferred.
- Possession of a valid Georgia Class C driver’s license and acceptable driving history.
SALARY AND BENEFITS
This is a full-time position with a starting annual compensation of $38,771 (Pay Grade 10A), or $18.64 per hour. Work hours are typically 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM Monday through Friday.
