Mechanical Assembler II

Responsibilities:

  • Read, interpret and follow basic blueprints, diagrams, engineering drawings, specifications, bills of materials, and other written instructions or procedures to accurately assemble equipment and products.

  • Use standard hand tools (i.e. pliers, torque drivers, torque wrenches and screwdrivers).

  • Perform quality inspections to ensure the product meets quality standards as specified in procedures and the quality system. Reports any quality related problems to management.  Accurately and completely fills out production checklists, quality documents, and travelers as required.

  • Rework and/or repair assembled equipment and products according to engineering specification changes.

  • Assemble wiring harnesses, cabling, and other electrical connections in accordance with drawings, schematics, and procedures. Adheres to ESD controls when handling ESD sensitive components. 

  • Completes all work in a safe and compliant manner.  Keeps work stations organized and neat (5S).  Independently identifies potential safety risks and reports to management.

  • Performs training of other associates.  Diagnoses readiness of trainees to be able to work independently.


Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Basic communication skills.  Ability to read, write, interpret drawings and prints, and verbally communicate.  Communicates effectively through use of email and other forms of electronic communication.

  • Possession of manual dexterity required to assemble products quickly and accurately.  Knowledge of basic hand tools.

  • Basic computer skills.  Ability to work with computers, enter data, and navigate screens.  Proficient with job specific computer applications such as ERP systems, databases, computer-based test equipment.

  • Minimum of 3 years mechanical assembly or equivalent experience.

Basic Qualifications: 

  • High School diploma or GED.

Preferred Knowledge and Skills:

Work Conditions:

  • Manufacturing Environment.

  • Fast paced work environment requiring standing for extended periods of time, squatting, and working within constrained spaces. Regularly performs repetitive tasks.

  • Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.

  • Works effectively independently and in teams.
