The Director of Architecture provides overall leadership, management, technical quality, financial performance, client service, staffing, and growth for the Architecture Department. Designed for a leader who thrives on combining active project management, operations, high-level design, and team leadership, this role balances executive oversight with direct engagement in the architectural process. The Director leads department operations while staying connected to active design work, actively mentoring younger staff, and driving the strategic development of the architecture practice.

Requirements

Professional degree in Architecture and Registered Architect license (Ohio registration or ability to obtain preferred).

12–15+ years of progressively responsible architectural experience, with a background spanning project management, operations, and design leadership.

Demonstrated passion for mentoring junior staff and growing an architecture team.

Strong technical expertise in architectural design, construction documents, building codes, QA/QC, and construction administration.

Proven track record managing project finances, department utilization, and client relationships.

Public-sector/federal and multidisciplinary A/E project experience preferred.
