Manager on Duty

REPORTS TO: Facilities Manager

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt, Hourly Employee

DEPARTMENT: Administration

 

PURPOSE:

The Manager on Duty (MOD) is responsible for providing support in all areas of store operations to ensure excellent customer service and a clean and maintained facility, as well as the safety and security of staff, shoppers, property, and assets. The MOD is readily accessible to shoppers and staff, communicates and enforces store policies, and completes other tasks that contribute to the success of the co-op. MOD's are trained in multiple positions across the store in order to provide operational support.

ALL CO-OP STAFF WILL:

  • Use all available tools and resources in order to provide excellent and knowledgeable customer service to all customers, coworkers, and vendors
  • Communicate professionally and respectfully with everyone you encounter while at work
  • Adhere to all store and department policies and procedures
  • Demonstrate regular, predictable good attendance
  • Attend huddles and meetings as scheduled
  • Commit to contributing to a positive, team-building work environment

MANAGER ON DUTY PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • As scheduled, open, close, and secure the facility.
  • Ensure the safety and security of staff, shoppers, property, and assets.
  • Respond to, and properly document, emergencies and issues involving customers and staff.
  • Communicate clearly with all department Leads and/or staff to ensure that shift goals are met.
  • Communicate and enforce store policies using best judgement when necessary.
  • Work in a safe manner, following established safety protocols and procedures; ensure that staff work in a safe manner.
  • Respond to customer issues when the specific manager they need is not onsite.
  • Monitor and maintain security logs.
  • Perform temperature checks throughout the store; maintain temperature logs.
  • Maintain the Manager on Duty SharePoint page.
  • Prepare the Community Room for events as needed.
  • Maintain Eastside Food Co-op property, both interior and exterior.
  • Provide staffing support to operations departments as needed.
  • Maintain frequent communication with management team to provide updates and/or areas of
  • Additional duties as assigned by the Facilities Manager.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Standing, bending, stooping, reaching, squatting, and walking for extended periods of time per shift
  • Repetitive bending and lifting of loads up to 50 pounds; pushing and pulling carts weighing up to 400 pounds
  • Environmental exposure to extreme temperatures (coolers, freezer, outdoors, etc.)
  • Repetitive use of hands for grasping, pushing, pulling, and fine manipulation
