This role helps ensure financial and coverage information is accurate prior to the patient visit, supporting efficient scheduling and minimizing delays in care. Working closely with patients, payers, and clinic staff, the Specialist gathers required information, resolves coverage issues, and promotes clear communication across teams. Through strong attention to detail, professionalism, and adherence to privacy standards, the position contributes to a positive patient experience and reliable, well-coordinated patient access processes. Key Responsibilities: Verify insurance eligibility and benefits for scheduled appointments, documenting all required information in the appropriate systems. Obtain prior authorizations for office visits, diagnostic services, and procedures in accordance with payer guidelines and organizational protocols. Confirm referral requirements for Medicaid, Tricare, VA, and IHS patients, ensuring all paperwork is complete prior to the appointment. Communicate with patients to clarify insurance details, request missing information, and provide guidance on next steps as needed. Collaborate with clinic staff and scheduling teams to resolve coverage issues that may affect appointment readiness. Maintain accurate records and uphold confidentiality and privacy standards when handling sensitive patient and insurance information. QualificationsLicenses and Certifications Required: None Educational Requirements: High School diploma or GED preferred Experience Requirements: Customer service experience or training required, preferably 6 months minimum. Experience in a clerical office setting, preferred Medical terminology knowledge, preferred. Experience with computer appointment software, preferred Special Skills or Training Requirements: Ability to communicate effectively in person and on the telephone Ability to demonstrate good judgment in handling incoming calls. Exceptional interpersonal, customer service, problem solving, verbal and written communication and conflict resolution Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information Ability to work in a fast paced environment, working efficiently and multitasking Compliance with all Privacy and Confidentiality Standards per Trinity’s policies Physical Requirements: The Central Pre Registration Specialist primarily performs work in an office or remote environment with prolonged periods of sitting, computer use, and telephone communication. The role may require occasional standing, walking, and light lifting of office materials.
