What You'll Do:
As the Area Manager Assistant, you will support the Area Manager in maintaining high-quality cleaning services across customer locations. This position combines hands-on cleaning, quality inspections, supply and laundry delivery, coverage of open jobs, and mentoring of cleaning specialists to ensure customer expectations and company standards are consistently met.
Your Accountabilities in the Role:
- Inspects the quality of cleaning at various customer locations based on client tier requirements to ensure services consistently meet established standards.
- Follows established schedules to exchange laundry and proactively deliver cleaning supplies to customer locations, helping ensure cleaning specialists have the materials needed to perform their jobs.
- Provides coverage for open cleaning positions and assists in bringing locations back to the required standard when cleaning quality or staffing needs require additional support.
- Coaches and mentors cleaning specialists on their job responsibilities, cleaning expectations, quality standards, and company procedures.
- Delivers and documents verbal warnings when necessary and communicates performance concerns to the Area Manager and Operations Manager; additional disciplinary action beyond verbal warnings is outside the scope of this position.
- Provides limited customer service support by maintaining professional relationships with appropriate customer contacts and addressing routine needs; renewals and changes to scope of work are outside the scope of this position.
- Assists with timekeeping responsibilities, including reviewing time records and helping correct exceptions in eHub to support accurate payroll and employee records.
- Maintains a consistent schedule of customer visits based on customer tier requirements to inspect work, exchange laundry, deliver supplies, and remain visible to customers.
- Keeps the Area Manager and Operations Manager informed of progress, problems, schedule changes, and concerns involving cleaning specialists, customers, and customer contacts.
- Prioritizes responsibilities effectively when emergencies or unexpected staffing and customer needs arise while maintaining quality and meeting established schedules.
Position Requirements:
- Education: High School Diploma or GED preferred; an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
- Experience: 1–2 years of experience performing foundational tasks in a work environment; proven experience in commercial cleaning supervision, mentoring, or leading others is preferred.
- Certifications: No certifications required.
- Functional Skills: Ability to clean and inspect work to established standards; working knowledge of various cleaning methods; strong attention to quality and detail; ability to manage multiple tasks, schedules, and priorities; ability to work independently and within a team; ability to understand cleaning scopes of work, crew sites, and hours budgets.
- Technology Skills: Average computer aptitude; ability to use timekeeping and inspection systems; proficient in Microsoft Office applications; experience with Microsoft Teams is preferred.
- Communication Skills: Average written and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate effectively with cleaning specialists, customers, and management; ability to train and mentor others.

Other Important Information:
Pay/Salary: Hourly position; Based on proven expertise.

Reports To: Area Manager

Core Hours: 3:00 pm – 11:00 pm; some flexibility is available, and certain responsibilities may be completed during daytime hours.
Â
Typical Work Week: Monday–Friday; approximately 40 hours per week. Some urgent weekend needs may occur but will be rare.
Â
Direct Reports: 8-10; provides mentoring and coaching to cleaning specialists.
Â
Travel: Approximately 25%; travel throughout the South Bend, Mishawaka, Elkhart, and Bristol areas for customer inspections, supply delivery, laundry exchange, and employee support.

Work Environment: Work will take place at various customer locations and may require protective equipment depending on the location. The position requires the ability to perform cleaning and inspection duties and work in various positions for extended periods, including standing, walking, bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, and lifting up to approximately 50 pounds routinely throughout the day. The employee will use their own vehicle for travel between customer locations. Mileage reimbursement and travel-related benefits are provided according to company policy.
