A Day in the Life

The Manager is responsible for the management of their areas of specialty. They have responsibility for overseeing completion of year-end compilations, manages audits, and other complex accounting projects. The Manager is proficient in related specialty area(s) of the accounting function, quality control and JCCS committee and/or team responsibilities.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead complex audit engagements from planning through completion for a variety of clients and industries as well as client billing.
  • Develop engagement timelines, coordinate fieldwork, and delegate tasks to staff.
  • Assess risk areas and design audit procedures to address significant risks.
  • Review staff work for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with firm policies.
  • Supervise preparation of client financial statements, including footnote disclosures.
  • Develop strong client relationships and serve as primary point of contact during engagements.
  • Take responsibility for quality control issues.
  • Mentor and train staff and interns on audit procedures and standards.
  • Attend training and stay informed on current accounting, auditing, and regulatory developments (e.g., GAAS, GAAP, Uniform Guidance).
  • Use expertise to serve on JCCS committees and lead JCCS teams.
  • Contribute significantly to marketing activities that bring in their own clients and participate in promoting new firm services.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of information related to client, staff, and firm’s internal operations during and after employment with JCCS.
  • Performs other duties, responsibilities and activities as assigned.

To Qualify:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from an accredited university.     
  • Licensed CPA by the Montana State Board of Public Accountants
  • 5+ years' experience in public or private accounting.
