Position Summary:
The Boat Detailer is responsible for cleaning, polishing, and preparing newly manufactured boats for final inspection and delivery. This role ensures that each boat leaves the production facility in pristine, showroom-ready condition by performing high-quality detailing of all surfaces, components, and compartments inside and out.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Clean and detail boat exteriors and interiors, including hulls, decks, consoles, compartments, windows, and hardware.
  • Perform buffing, polishing, and waxing of fiberglass surfaces to remove swirl marks, oxidation, and surface imperfections.
  • Remove dust, dirt, adhesives, overspray, and protective coverings from production.
  • Wipe down and sanitize all interior areas including seating, helm, head compartments, and storage.
  • Clean stainless steel, chrome, and aluminum fixtures to a high shine.
  • Apply protective coatings, vinyl treatments, and UV protectants as needed.
  • Inspect boats for cosmetic flaws and report defects or damage to supervisors.
  • Use proper detailing tools and supplies including buffers, vacuums, squeegees, and specialty cleaners.
  • Follow detailing procedures to meet factory and customer standards for cleanliness and presentation.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the detailing area and safely handle chemicals and materials.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Knowledge of cleaning and polishing techniques for fiberglass, vinyl, plastic, and metals.
  • Familiarity with compounds, polishes, cleaners, and protectants used in marine detailing.
  • Good eye for detail and a high standard for quality and cleanliness.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team.
  • Physically capable of bending, standing, lifting up to 50 lbs, and working in tight spaces or on ladders.
Work Environment:
  • Indoor and outdoor manufacturing and finishing areas.
  • Exposure to cleaning chemicals, buffing equipment, and variable weather conditions.
  • Fast-paced environment with strict deadlines and a focus on presentation quality.
