Job Description:
Under the leadership of the Quality Management and Medical Staff Services Director, the Medical Staff Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the Continuing Medical Education (CME) program and medical staff functions, assisting with practitioner credentialing and other MSS special projects as needed.
CME: Interprets written guidelines and monitors CME program to ensure continued Joint Commission, Institute of Medical Quality/California Medical Association (IMQ/CMA), and Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) accreditation status; interacts frequently with the Medical Staff Performance Improvement Committees/Quality Management Department to assure a learning impact application of clinical practice as a result in educational activities; in conjunction with the Medical Director of Continuing Medical Education and CME Committee evaluates hospital CME needs by soliciting input from physicians and other hospital staff; researches current topics and speakers to recommend educational programs and measurable objectives; coordinates and schedules CME activities and conferences; collects and compiles data for reporting and accreditation purposes; designs educational activities which comply with the ACCME Standards for Commercial Support to ensure independence in CME activities; markets CME activities to the appropriate target audiences in the medical community; manages data systems and computer systems as they relate to committee meetings and CME program; develops annual CME budget and manages committee meeting finances; provides exceptional customer service and promotes teamwork in order to cultivate positive and productive relationships with physicians, hospital staff, and public.
Medical Staff Meetings and Special Functions: Under minimal supervision, coordinate medical staff committee/department/division meetings, ensuring preparation of agenda packets and accurate, timely completion of meeting minutes. Along with medical staff leadership, planning and organizing medical staff annual meeting and special functions.
Credentialing: Assists with all aspects of credentialing and privilege delineation for CHOMP and Westland House ensuring the program’s integrity through adherence with the Joint Commission, Title 22, state and federal regulatory requirements. Maintains current knowledge of appropriate regulatory requirements as necessary to maintain compliance and survey readiness. Ensures accuracy and integrity of electronic credentials files and credentialing data base. Â
Experience
Minimum of three years medical office, hospital or other health care experience. Strong meeting management skills. Advanced computer skills are required as evidenced by passing proficiency testing in MS Office Outlook, Word and Excel. Demonstrated experience in all aspects of program planning. Ability to be flexible, and organized. Knowledge of information systems and data management. Excellent written and oral communication skills, including editing and proofreading, to ensure high quality of communication, documentation and published information. Strong interpersonal skills, teamwork, and ability to communicate effectively with medical staff members, all levels of hospital staff, and the public. Ability to multi-task, working on a variety of projects at one time.
Education
Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Health Science or Education field.
