Summary
The Safety & ISO Documentation Specialist is responsible for developing, maintaining, and controlling safety and ISO-related documentation to support compliance with applicable regulations and management system standards (e.g., ISO 45001, ISO 9001, ISO 14001). This role ensures accurate, current, and accessible documentation to support audits, investigations, training, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Safety and ISO Documentation Team Member
Degreed Salary: $60k - $68k, based upon experience
Department: Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) / Quality
Reports to: EHS Manager
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Safety and ISO Documentation
- Develop, review, revise, and maintain safety and ISO management system documents, including:
- Policies, procedures, and work instructions
- Risk assessments, Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), and hazard registers
- Emergency response plans and safety manuals
- Forms, logs, and records required for compliance
- Ensure documents align with ISO standards, regulatory requirements, and internal company processes.
- Maintain document version control, approval workflows, and retention schedules.
ISO Management System Support
- Support implementation, maintenance, and continual improvement of ISO management systems.
- Prepare documentation packages for internal, external, and certification audits.
- Track corrective actions, preventive actions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Assist with management reviews by compiling required metrics and documentation.
Audit & Compliance Support
- Coordinate document requests from internal auditors, third-party auditors, and customers.
- Ensure timely submission of accurate documentation and evidence.
- Track audit findings and assist in corrective action documentation and closure.
Safety Program Support
- Assist with incident investigations by documenting reports, root cause analyses, and corrective actions.
- Support safety programs such as training records, inspections, observations, and regulatory reporting.
- Maintain safety metrics, dashboards, and compliance tracking tools.
Collaboration and Communication
- Work closely with EHS, operations, HR, and leadership to gather and validate documentation.
- Communicate document changes and updates to affected stakeholders.
- Guide team members on document usage and compliance expectations.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Quality, Industrial Technology, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Experience with ISO standards (ISO 45001 preferred).
- Strong document control and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong written communication and attention to detail.
Preferred
- ISO internal auditor training or certification.
- Experience in manufacturing, construction, utilities, or industrial environments.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements (OSHA, EPA, DOT as applicable).
- Experience with document management systems.
