Position Overview:    

Counselor is responsible for the delivery of RCA’s SUD and mental health curriculum for patients in inpatient and/or outpatient programs. The counselor is expected to ensure quality and consistency in the delivery of curriculum Responsible for facilitating at minimum 20 one-hour groups per week(4 per day). The Counselor will also be required to attend staff meetings and trainings as assigned and may carry a patient caseload. 

 

 

Specific Responsibilities:   

  • Ensure that groups are delivered professionally and effectively to meet desired learning objectives. 
  • Engage with the recovery community in a culturally competent way, in and outside the group setting. 
  • Complete group notes and all other documentation in a timely manner. 
  • Perform any other job-related duties as assigned. 

 

Education and Experience: 

  • Florida – Independent FL License (LMHC, LCSW, LMFT or Licensed Psychologist), or CAP or MCAP  
  • Minimum of 2 years of related experience, preferably in a residential setting. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required. 
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines. 
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to juggle multiple competing tasks and demands. 
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk; sit; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus. 

 

Travel: Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected. 

 

Please note: A former patient may not be hired at the same location where they were treated until a minimum of one year has elapsed since the completion of their treatment at that location. Former patients may be considered for employment at locations within RCA other than where they were treated within a year after treatment.
