Summary of Position:


ReCode is seeking a Senior Research Associate to work as part of a team to conduct laboratory experiments to support the development of robust scalable LNP-encapsulated nucleic acids formulations and manufacturing processes, including lab-scale process development, process scaleup, and in-process characterization. You will have the opportunity to work as an integral part of a talented, diverse team of scientists, and develop career in the exciting field of RNA therapeutics. The ideal candidate will be proactive, enthusiastic, and show a passion for LNP-RNA formulation and process development and should have strong communication and collaboration skills, along with a background in LNP formulation and process development.


Responsibilities:

  • Executes studies to define formulation components, vehicle, and primary container.
  • Operates common biopharmaceutical unit operations such as mixing, dialysis, tangential flow filtration, and sterile filtration.
  • Performs in-process characterization such as pH, particle size, encapsulation efficiency measurement etc.
  • Conducts troubleshooting and technical investigations as needed.
  • Executes experiments to meet agreed upon deliverables and timelines.
  • Maintains thorough and detailed electronic lab notebooks and documentation records.
  • Supports and participates in R&D and project management meetings.
  • Adheres to all laboratory safety requirements and procedures.
  • Assists in maintaining general laboratory functionality and lab equipment, including ordering and receiving of lab supplies.


Qualifications:

  • B.S. in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Bioengineering, Material Sciences, Pharmaceutical Sciences or related scientific discipline with typically 5+ years laboratory experience or M.S. in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Bioengineering, Material Sciences, Pharmaceutical Sciences or related scientific discipline with typically 3+ years laboratory experience (ideally in organic chemical synthesis, nanoparticles, formulation development, nucleic acids, drug delivery)
  • Hands-on experience with HPLC, UPLC, LC-MS and various analytical techniques is a must. Extensive hands-on experience on the analysis and characterization of lipids is preferred.
  • Attention to detail and excellent skills in Microsoft Office and data analysis software (e.g., Empower, ChemStation, Chromeleon, etc.) and other applications.
  • Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment and collaborate effectively with other team members.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills to support internal and external communications/presentations.


Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

  • Regularly required to stand, bend, reach, and work at a laboratory bench for extended periods; occasionally required to lift and move materials or equipment up to 25 lbs.
  • Regularly exposed to laboratory chemicals, biological materials, and equipment; required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow all safety protocols.

The expected base salary is $110,000 - $130,000, based on experience.
