Job DetailsJob Location: Ephrata, PA 17522Job Shift: DayThe QA Technician provides support to the Quality Assurance Department to ensure all products meet established quality and food safety standards. This role performs inspections, testing, documentation, and verification activities in accordance with company policies, HACCP programs, and government regulations. The QA Technician works collaboratively with production, sanitation, and maintenance teams to maintain a safe, compliant, and high‑quality manufacturing environment. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES The duties listed below are representative of the types of responsibilities required for the role. Additional tasks may be assigned as needed to meet the needs of the organization: Complies with all GMP, OSHA, food safety, and plant safety requirements. Reviews, verifies, and maintains CCP and HACCP documentation throughout production. Performs pre‑operational inspections with Sanitation and Maintenance. Ensures food safety, legality, and quality policies are followed across assigned areas. Conducts inspections of raw ingredients, in‑process materials, and finished goods. Performs micro testing, pathogen testing, ATP swabs, allergen swabs, and environmental swabbing. Completes in‑house lab testing including pH, viscosity, shear press, and other product quality tests. Gathers and prepares samples for external laboratory testing and ensures proper product hold procedures. Maintains accurate chemical concentrations (PPM) in sanitation and hand‑washing stations, sprayers, and related equipment. Maintains and documents sanitation station functionality, including soap and sanitizer levels. Maintains thermometer calibration stations and ensures proper documentation. Monitors yields, code dating, labeling accuracy, and product identification for compliance with standards. Conducts incoming and outgoing inspections for ingredients, packaging, and finished goods. Maintains all required QA records, reports, and documentation to support the HACCP program. Places questionable product on hold and escalates issues to the Quality Manager and/or plant management for disposition. Notifies management of unsatisfactory line operations and may stop production if necessary to protect product safety or quality. Trains personnel on SOPs, GMPs, food safety, and quality-related procedures. Serves as a lead resource for QA activities within assigned production areas. Prepares items for daily data traces and supports traceability activities. Qualifications High School Diploma or GED required; associate degree or equivalent experience in Food Science or related field preferred. 1-3 years of experience in food processing and/or quality assurance. HACCP certification preferred. Experience with micro testing, environmental monitoring, and CCP verification preferred. Knowledge of food formulas, production equipment, and plant operations. Strong communication skills both verbal and written. Solid math skills with attention to detail. Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Office preferred). Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
