THE POSITION
Are you interested in supporting the safety, security, and daily operations of the airport? The Security Officer I patrols airport facilities, monitors secured areas, responds to security concerns and emergencies, conducts inspections and preliminary investigations, and provides professional assistance to employees, tenants, customers, and the public. This position follows Authority policies, security procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements.
Some of the position duties include:Â
- Patrols airport facilities, terminals, parking areas, gates, access points, and other Authority property to identify security concerns, safety hazards, and unauthorized activities.
- Responds to alarms, emergencies, suspicious activities, medical events, traffic incidents, and other calls for service.
- Conducts preliminary investigations, documents findings, prepares reports, and coordinates with law enforcement and emergency responders as appropriate.
- Monitors and secures facilities, gates, restricted areas, alarms, and access-control systems.
- Conducts security and facility inspections and reports safety, maintenance, and operational concerns.
- Provides courteous and professional service and assists with airport operations and other departmental functions as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
- High school diploma or GED required. Related airport, aviation, security, law enforcement, military, emergency response, customer service, or operational experience preferred.
- Ability to communicate effectively, exercise sound judgment, and respond appropriately to security concerns and emergencies.
- Ability to use and learn computer, security, access-control, and operational systems.
- ICS 100, 200, 700 and 800 and CPR/AED/First Aid certifications required within six months of employment.
- Current, valid Florida driver's license with a driving record meeting Authority standards.

Starting Salary: $19.87 per hour
