Job Overview We're looking for a proactive and experienced Safety Lead to own and strengthen our health, safety, and environmental programs across a multi-state HVAC distribution network. Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, you'll serve as the company's primary safety expert, partnering with branch leadership to reduce risk, drive compliance, and build a strong culture of safety throughout our warehouses and delivery operations. This is a highly visible role ideal for someone who enjoys working independently, influencing teams without direct authority, and making a meaningful impact across an organization. What You'll Do Lead all safety initiatives across 16 warehouse and distribution locations. Develop safe material handling practices for heavy and bulky HVAC products, including furnaces, compressors, air conditioning units, and sheet metal. Manage forklift and powered industrial truck safety programs, training, and certifications. Ensure compliance with OSHA standards and safe handling of refrigerants, cylinders, adhesives, and other regulated materials. Oversee safety programs for a non-CDL delivery fleet consisting of vans, pickups, and box trucks. Manage driver onboarding, defensive driving programs, and ongoing MVR monitoring. Utilize telematics data to identify trends, coach drivers, and improve fleet safety performance. Conduct branch safety audits, facility inspections, and hazard assessments. Lead investigations involving workplace injuries, vehicle accidents, and property damage incidents. Partner with HR on workers' compensation claims, incident documentation, and return-to-work programs. Create and distribute safety training materials, toolbox talks, and emergency response resources. Track and communicate safety metrics and improvement opportunities to leadership. QualificationsWhat We're Looking For 4+ years of safety experience within distribution, warehousing, logistics, transportation, or a related environment. Experience supporting safety programs across multiple locations. Strong knowledge of OSHA General Industry standards (29 CFR 1910). Experience managing fleet safety programs, driver training, and accident investigations. Ability to influence leaders and employees without direct reporting authority. Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Willingness to travel to branch locations as needed. Preferred Qualifications HVAC, industrial distribution, manufacturing, or logistics industry experience. Experience with telematics platforms and fleet management technology.
