Early Childhood Education Support Intern

Internship Description/Learning Objectives:

 

The Early Childhood Education Support Intern will assist the Early Childhood Development Manager in supporting educational services across seven Head Start and Early Head Start schools. Interns will gain hands-on experience in curriculum preparation, educational resource management, classroom support, professional development, and daily program operations while learning how a large early childhood education program functions.

Job Duties:

 

  Assist with preparing Creative Curriculum materials and lesson resources. 

  Copy, print, laminate, organize, and distribute classroom materials. 

  Deliver curriculum resources and instructional materials to assigned schools. 

  Visit school sites to support teachers and education staff. 

  Assist with classroom organization and learning environment setup. 

  Create educational displays, newsletters, flyers, and family communication materials. 

  Help prepare materials for teacher meetings and professional development sessions. 

  Support coaches and the Early Childhood Development Manager with education initiatives. 

  Organize curriculum supplies, classroom materials, and resource libraries. 

  Assist with family engagement events, classroom activities, and agency events as needed. 

  Complete administrative tasks that support school readiness and instructional success.  

  Maintain professionalism and confidentiality while working in classrooms and offices.

Preferred Competencies:

 

  • Interest in Early Childhood Education, Education, Child Development, or related fields. 
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • Organized and detail oriented. 
  • Dependable and punctual. 
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn. 
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively. 
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office and Google applications). 
  • Comfortable working with young children and educational professionals. 

 

 

General Information:

Work Schedule Days and Hours:

 

Monday – Friday 8am – 4:30pm 

Dress Code:

 

Business Casual. Professional attire with comfortable closed-toe shoes for classroom visits.

Travel Required:

 

Local travel between Metro Action Commission Head Start and Early Head Start school sites 

 

 

Physical Requirements:

 

  • Walk throughout classrooms and school sites. 
  • Sit, stand, bend, and reach throughout the workday. 
  • Lift and carry educational materials and supplies up to 25 pounds. 
  • Operate office equipment including printers, copiers, and laminators. 
  • Participate in classroom activities when appropriate.  

 

Working Conditions: (example: Office Warehouse, Outdoors, with Children or Animals, etc.)

 

Professional office environment and licensed early childhood classrooms serving infants, toddlers, and preschool-aged children. Work may include classroom visits, educational meetings, teacher trainings, and occasional outdoor activities.

 

                                                                                                                                                 

If you are selected for YEP Internship as a Work Team Member, you will make $18.00 an hour.
