The Manufacturing Utility Technician supports day-to-day production across assigned manufacturing areas. This role assists with equipment operation, material handling, product finishing and packaging, workplace organization, and required production documentation. The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-focused, comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, and willing to learn different processes as operational needs change.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support manufacturing, material preparation, converting, finishing, and packaging activities as assigned.
  • Assist with operating, monitoring, cleaning, and basic troubleshooting of production equipment.
  • Move, stage, weigh, label, wrap, and package raw materials and finished products according to work instructions and customer requirements.
  • Complete production records, shift logs, labels, inspections, and data entry accurately and on time.
  • Follow all safety procedures, Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), cGMP requirements, ISO standards, and company quality procedures.
  • Inspect work areas and equipment, identify hazards or process concerns, and promptly report issues to supervision.
  • Operate powered industrial equipment, including forklifts, when trained and authorized; complete required pre-use inspections.
  • Maintain a clean, organized work area and help minimize waste while supporting productivity and product quality.
  • Work cooperatively with team members and communicate clearly during shift handoffs and daily operations.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts related to safety, quality, efficiency, waste reduction, and cross-training.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Previous manufacturing, production, warehouse, or machine-operation experience preferred, but not required.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and complete records accurately.
  • Basic math, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and adapt to changing production needs.
  • Team-oriented approach with a strong commitment to safety, quality, and attendance.
  • Availability to work a 24/7 rotating schedule, including days, nights, weekends, occasional holidays, and overtime as needed.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, including walking several miles during a shift.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to climb stairs and rolling steps and occasionally bend, stoop, squat, kneel, crouch, reach, or work in confined areas.
  • Ability to grip tools, handle materials, and safely operate equipment.
  • Visual ability necessary to inspect products and perform work accurately, including close and distance vision and depth perception.

Work Environment

Work is performed in a manufacturing environment around moving machinery and powered industrial equipment. Conditions may include moderate noise, heat, dust, heated materials, plastics or related chemicals, and occasional cramped work areas. Required personal protective equipment may include eye protection, hairnets, bump caps, and additional PPE based on the task or area.

Schedule

This is a full-time position requiring availability for a 24/7 rotating shift schedule. Assigned hours may include days, nights, weekends, and occasional holidays. Overtime may be required based on business needs.
