TheĀ Endoscopy TechnicianĀ serves as a member of theĀ Ambulatory SurgeryĀ Center (ā€œCenterā€)Ā team,Ā responds to patient needs,Ā prepares / maintains resources (e.g.,Ā equipment, instruments,Ā supplies) &Ā provides safe, quality health care services & / or assistance forĀ non-surgicalĀ endoscopyĀ proceduresĀ in accordance with level of experience, education,Ā policies / procedures / protocolsĀ & standards.Ā

TechĀ /Ā SupportĀ III – skilled:Ā Licensed, unlicensed,Ā certified, uncertifiedĀ role (directĀ healthcare)Ā that supportsĀ non-surgical endoscopyĀ routine & complex invasive diagnostic & therapeuticĀ procedure &Ā processes;Ā Accountable for equipment, supplies,Ā room set upĀ &Ā assisting inĀ runningĀ equipment during procedures;Ā Provides patient care to patients as directed by the Director of Nursing / Medical Director / Quality Committee(s);Ā Ā Assists in patient intake, transport,Ā placement of monitoring devicesĀ & sample collection / preparation;Ā Establishes & maintains a safe & clean proceduralĀ room suite &Ā sterile field;Ā Adheres to high level disinfecting standards for reprocessing endoscopes & follows manufacturer’s guidelines;Ā Ā Sterilizes equipment afterĀ procedures & ensures equipment is maintained in ready working order;Ā Performs quality testingĀ & assistsĀ &Ā / orĀ ensuresĀ documentationĀ & detailed records are keptĀ & hand-off reports areĀ accurate / concise / pertinent;Ā Distributes information regarding equipment or instruments at in-service / training sessions;Ā Performs essential dutiesĀ & techniquesĀ appropriate to roleĀ /Ā functionĀ / procedure;Ā Participates in quality improvement processesĀ & continuous surveillance, rounding or monitoring for safety;Ā May serve as a resource (lead), role model &Ā /Ā or mentor.Ā

Minimum QualificationsĀ 

HighĀ School diploma or GED;Ā At least two (2) years endoscopy or ambulatory surgeryĀ experience;Ā Meets requirements for applicable state(s) of engagement.Ā Ā

Associate degree in medical assisting or surgical technology;Ā Endoscopy technician program certification;Ā Certified Flexible EndoscopeĀ ReprocessorĀ certification.Ā
