GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION

In additionthiposition leads the overall clinicavisioand provides clinical direction to their direcreports and patient care teams of physiciansmidlevel providers, nurses, and behaviorahealth providers. Thposition provides medicaoversightexpertise and leadership to ensurthdelivery of affordablquality healthcare services tthcommunity. Responsibilities also includthe strategy, development and implementatioof innovative clinical programthat include collaboration with strategic business partners.


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

 

 

Leadsdirects and coordinates with Health Center's and communitproviderthdelivery of an integratecomprehensive primary care services.


Oversees monitorsanevaluates and as necessary, develops and revises thHealth Center's clinicaprotocolprocedures and systemto assure compliance with federalaws, regulationsstandard s of practice and relevant Bureau Primary Care indicators including OSHA, CLIA,

patient care, employee healthcoding and quality assurance program.


Overseesmonitors and evaluates and as necessary, revisethe Health Center's continuous quality improvement activities and quality assurance program. Prepares and delivers monthly reports to the Quality Committee and Governing Board


Supervising physicians and mid-levels: performing quality assurance activitiesParticipating and directing provider and medical care team meetings


Establishing linkage with pharmacydental, and community referral entities while expanding the scope of serviceavailable through community referrals.


Investigating best practices and implementing quality improvements initiatives to the care teams Establishes positive relationships with local medical community.


Assists with recruiting new providers to the system and then orients, monitorsdirects, coaches and evaluates the medical staff.


Oversees, in conjunction with administration the credentialing and re-credentialing privileging of clinicastaff.


Participateas part of Health Center'leadership team in evaluation of clinical servicesbudgetingand feasibility of expansions in health services.


Ensuring the implementation of QI/QA operating procedures.


Ensuring QI/QA assessments are completed at least quarterly.


Monitoring QI/QA outcomes.


Updating QI/QA policies and procedures, as needed.



Physician Duties

 

Interviewpatientto obtain historyperforming physicaexaminationordering lab and other testsprescribinmedication and treatment.


Provides continuity in managed care for patients with pre-existing long term chronic problems Makes referralfor secondary or tertiary care.


Performmedical procedures, according to privileges issued. Documents all patient contact accurately on the medical record.


Provides health maintenance visitsevaluates for immunizationsand provideanticipatory guidance and referrals: performing contract and speciaphysicaexaminations, performSTD and patient education.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS

 

Liftingtwistingbending and prolonged sittinor standing may be required. The physical movementand the degree of mobility normally associated with the practice of primary care may be required.


Work under stressfuconditions as well as extended hours may be required.


WORK ENVIRONMENT

 

Potential occasional exposure to low dose radiation hazardshazardous chemicals and body fluids and waste. Personal protective equipment provided. May be exposed to infectious and contagious diseases.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

 

Current licensure as an MD/DO to practice in thState of Louisiana Current DEA certification

Valid Driver'License


Must be ablto meet and maintain current DCHC credentialinand privileging requirements


Skill in providing excellent customer service and support: organizing and prioritizing workload and meeting deadlines.


Excellent written and verbacommunications


Abilitto perform each role responsibly satisfactorily with or without reasonable accommodation


Must be computer literate with ability to enter information in the EMR and compile reports or data as requested


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

 

Preference will be given to work experience in a communithealth center setting, previous experience as a MedicaDirectorcompletion of an accredited primary care residency programor Board Certification (oeligible) in Family Medicine or InternaMedicine.
