Program Description:Ā 

Ā 

The Sophomore Career Exploration Internship gives undergraduate sophomores the opportunity to gain valuable work experience at a unique institution. Through dynamic, project-based work assignments and professional development activities, students get:Ā 

  • A cohort-based learning model withĀ a strong senseĀ of communityĀ 

  • Real-world experience that helps them build strong skills and knowledge in their area of interestĀ 

  • The chance to contribute to meaningful work that makes an impact on the lives of all AmericansĀ 

  • Opportunities to meet, network with, and work alongside our mission-driven, curious colleagues—all of whom are happy to share their experiences and adviceĀ 

  • An experienced professional mentor to support them throughout the programĀ 

  • Access to learning events with senior leaders from the New York Fed, giving them direct insight into the public service and financial services worldĀ

Sophomore interns work in one specific business area or function forĀ tenĀ weeks, andĀ have access to opportunities for collaboration with other students and employees from around the Bank.Ā Ā

The mission of the Risk Group is to generate innovative and forward-looking opportunities that enable the Bank toĀ leverageĀ risk-related data and disciplines to be at the forefront of anticipating, adapting, and acting in pursuit of achieving its Mission.Ā 

The candidate will be assigned to a Risk Group FunctionĀ based on skillset and business need. SkillsĀ requiredĀ include a combination of technical, strong analytical thinking and communication abilities.Ā 

HowĀ You’llĀ Make an Impact as aĀ RiskĀ Intern (Sophomore)Ā 

  • Contribute to the execution of the following risk management activitiesĀ Ā 

  • Collect and analyze data and information to measure, monitor, and evaluate risk management practices and metricsĀ 

  • Collaborate with risk management professionalsĀ to analyze controls,Ā dependenciesĀ and handoffs of critical processes.Ā 

  • Support program management and business analysis-related risk management activitiesĀ Ā 

  • Generate reports, prepare inventories, plans, assessments, analyses, and other analytic and guidance documents to drive effective risk management practices using tools suchĀ asĀ  Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and TableauĀ Ā 

  • Update program status reports and communications across FRBNY and FRSĀ

The Unique Skill SetsĀ We’reĀ Looking For:Ā 

  • Ability to develop andĀ develop data solutions and professional presentationsĀ 

  • Some knowledge and quantitative interest in risk management principles helpfulĀ Ā 

  • Analyze business activities, understand, and describe process flows,Ā strengthsĀ and weaknesses, and develop suggestions to improve efficiency and effectivenessĀ 

  • Willingness to learn new skills and tools and ability to collaborateĀ

Salary Range:Ā Your regular wages for the 10 weeks will be paid on a semi-monthly basis and will be calculated based on an annual salary ofĀ $65,600Ā

This position requires access to confidential supervisory information (CSI) and/or Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) information. Access to CSI and FOMC information is limited to U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, individuals who meet the definition of ā€œprotected individualā€ under 8 U.S.C. § 1324b(a)(3), and certain other nonimmigrants. All non-U.S. citizens authorized to access CSI and/or FOMC information must sign a declaration of intent to expeditiously become a lawful permanent resident and thereafter a U.S. citizen when eligible.
