REPORTS TO: Civic Center Business Manager

SUPERVISORY WORK: None

STARTING WAGE: $16.00 per hour

SUMMARY

This position performs set-ups for various events (risers, tables, chairs, etc.); performs general cleaning duties in the Civic Center; assists clients with information using the Civic Center; and maintains equipment used in job functions.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Erects stages, does set-ups (risers, tables, chairs, etc.) for banquets, meetings, and other events using the Civic Center.
  • Assists clients using the Civic Center with information or as directed.
  • Cleans and sanitizes restrooms.
  • Sweeps, mops or dust mops floors.
  • Vacuums and shampoos carpeted areas.
  • Safely mixes and handles various cleaning chemicals.
  • Ensures protection of area for safety.
  • Empties and disposes of trash.
  • Dusts walls, fixtures, and furniture.
  • Cleans windows and doors.
  • Replaces light bulbs and cleans fixtures as needed.
  • Maintains equipment used in the Job Functions such as vacuum cleaner, tenant sweepers, etc.
  • Performs minor maintenance.
  • Reports equipment, maintenance or safety problems through Building Attendant II or III.
  • Unlocks doors prior to events and locks after event as directed.
  • Displays flags daily
  • Works courteously with the public.
  • Performs snow removal at entrances and walkways adjacent to the building.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Requires a High School Diploma or its equivalent. Previous custodial experience preferred.  Valid Texas Driver’s License is preferred, not required.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to move, set up and take down risers, tables and chairs.
  • Ability to operate and make minor repairs to cleaning equipment and machinery, such as vacuum cleaners and carpet cleaning equipment, powered sweepers or scrubbers, floor buffers and use hand tools such as mops, brooms, dust mops, window cleaning tools, maid cart with all types of cleaning supplies.
  • Ability to safely drive a City truck.
  • Ability to safely operate a fork lift, scissor lift or genie lift. 
  • Ability to read and understand simple verbal instructions.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The employee works in a dynamic primarily indoor environment that requires being sensitive to change and responsive to changing goals, priorities, and needs. This position is required to work shifts including evenings, weekends, holidays, and during inclement weather. This position is considered weather essential personnel.
