Job Description:

TheĀ Securities Valuation OfficeĀ (SVO)Ā of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) hasĀ an exciting opportunity for aĀ Credit Analyst II.Ā ThisĀ team memberĀ will haveĀ well-developed, credit and analyticalĀ expertiseĀ in the field of assignmentĀ andĀ preformĀ credit analysis inĀ assignedĀ area.Ā FunctionsĀ of this roleĀ includeĀ ratingĀ and analyzing a high-volume portfolio of debt securities for inclusion in the NAIC Securities database.Ā They will actively contribute to various SVO initiatives and projects on a regular basis.Ā Ā ThisĀ team memberĀ works independently and must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, andĀ maintainĀ collegial relations with his peers, and other internal and external customers.Ā Ā Ā 

This is a full-time hybrid position, in a positive and flexible environment. Residency within 100 miles of theĀ New York, NYĀ office isĀ required.Ā

Responsibilities IncludeĀ 

  • PerformsĀ credit analysis of assigned sectors of corporate orĀ structuredĀ securitiesĀ in a wide variety of industries toĀ establishĀ appropriateĀ rating.Ā This requires reasoned based judgment based upon a thorough analysis of security structure & legalĀ agreements, financial statements and credit viability of issuer, appropriate peers, corporate or structured securities, analytical methodologies, industry data for comparative purposes economic trendsĀ ionĀ the industry and country of issuer, as well as relevant third party support, collateral or lease agreements.Ā Ā 

  • PreparesĀ appropriateĀ and efficiently written credit reports and make concise verbal presentations to theĀ creditĀ committee. Credit reports such asĀ an InitialĀ Filing or Annual UpdateĀ reports, documenting the ratingsĀ rationale, must adhere to the internal analysis standards.Ā Ā Respond to appeals, both verbal and written.Ā Ā Ā AchievesĀ productivity and timeliness requirements.Ā 

  • CompletesĀ review of theĀ Regulatory Treatment Analysis ServiceĀ requests (RTAS) for credits inĀ assignedĀ portfolio. PreparesĀ an appropriate writtenĀ report for a review by aĀ creditĀ committee documenting the ratingsĀ rationale.Ā Ā Ā Ā 

  • IdentifiesĀ andĀ participatesĀ in internal and external professional development opportunities to broaden the analytical skill set.Ā Ā DevelopsĀ aĀ strongĀ working knowledge of the Purposes and Procedures Manual of theĀ Investment Analysis Office and the Accounting Practices & Procedures Manual of the NAIC.Ā Ā 

  • ProducesĀ research covering important industry trends/issues inĀ assignedĀ portfolio that may be important to regulators. Respond to informational requests from a variety of sources, such as regulators, insurers,Ā Nationally Recognized Statistical Rating Organizations (NRSROs), investment bankers,Ā etc.Ā 

  • Maintain excellent interpersonal skillsĀ in order toĀ disseminateĀ information and viewpoints to a variety of customers, including regulators.Ā

Minimum Education and/or Experience RequiredĀ 

Master's degree (M.A.), M.B.A. in Finance or equivalent and/or CFA.Ā Ā Related experienceĀ of 5Ā to 10 years with at least 5+ years of fundamental credit analysis, and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.Ā Ā

Preferred ExperienceĀ 

Experience performing credit analysis at a Nationally Recognized Statistical Rating Organization (NRSRO or ā€œcredit rating agencyā€).Ā 

Ā 

Systems & Technology RequirementsĀ 

Intermediate to advanced levelĀ proficiencyĀ with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access), Microsoft Windows,Ā BloombergĀ and similar software.Ā Ā Advanced programming capabilities with these toolsĀ isĀ a plus.Ā
