We are seeking a dependable, safety-focused, and hospitality-driven Driver to join our Catering & Operations team for the night shift! This role is responsible for the safe and timely transportation of food, beverages, equipment, and supplies to events and venues throughout New York City. The ideal candidate will have professional experience operating straight box trucks, be comfortable navigating NYC roadways, and be experienced with loading, securing, transporting, and unloading event materials.

Responsibilities
Event Packing & Preparation
- Prepare and pack event equipment, supplies, food, beverages, and materials in the warehouse to ensure readiness for scheduled deliveries.
- Identify and document missing items during pack-out by creating and reporting a “short list” to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Verify that all loads are complete and aligned with delivery paperwork prior to departure.
- Communicate shortages, discrepancies, damaged items, or other concerns to a Supervisor or Manager promptly.
Box Truck Loading & Transportation
- Safely operate company straight box trucks, vans, and other commercial vehicles to transport food, beverages, equipment, supplies, and event materials throughout New York City and surrounding areas.
- Use proper techniques when driving and maneuvering box trucks, including navigating city streets, loading zones, tight spaces, parking areas, and venue loading docks.
- Inspect assigned vehicles before and after use and promptly report mechanical, maintenance, or safety concerns.
- Assist with loading box trucks and other company vehicles, ensuring equipment, supplies, food, beverages, and materials are properly organized, balanced, and secured for safe transportation.
- Confirm all loads are properly secured before departure and throughout transportation as necessary.
- Safely operate company vehicles while following all traffic laws, DOT requirements, company policies, and established safety procedures.
- Follow assigned delivery schedules, routes, and instructions to support timely event operations.
- Maintain awareness of vehicle height, clearance, weight, and other operating requirements when driving box trucks.
- Safely back, park, and position vehicles at event venues, loading docks, warehouses, and other delivery locations.
Delivery, Unloading & Returns
- Assist with unloading equipment, supplies, food, beverages, and materials at event and venue locations.
- Ensure deliveries are placed in designated areas according to event or venue instructions.
- Safely maneuver vehicles into designated loading and unloading areas while following venue and building requirements.
- Support the unloading and breakdown process upon return from events.
- Separate equipment, perishable food items, returned beverages, and other materials and ensure proper handling and storage.
- Report missing, damaged, or returned items requiring additional attention.
Client & Guest Service
- Provide professional, courteous, and hospitality-focused service when interacting with clients, guests, venue staff, building personnel, and event teams during deliveries and pickups.
- Represent the company in a positive and professional manner at all times while onsite at client and event locations.
- Communicate respectfully and respond to delivery-related needs with a strong customer-service mindset.
- Maintain professionalism and discretion when working in client-facing environments.
- Handle client or venue questions and concerns professionally and promptly communicate issues requiring additional support to a Supervisor or Manager.
Vehicle & Warehouse Maintenance
- Maintain clean, organized, and operational company box trucks, vans, and other vehicles, as well as warehouse areas and loading docks.
- Complete required pre-trip and post-trip vehicle checks and immediately report safety, maintenance, or mechanical concerns.
- Remove trash, empty boxes, and unnecessary materials from vehicles and work areas.
- Help maintain safe, clean, and clear loading, unloading, and warehouse workspaces.
- Report vehicle, equipment, maintenance, or safety concerns to a Supervisor or Manager promptly.
Communication & Operational Support
- Maintain clear and professional communication with Supervisors, Managers, warehouse staff, event teams, clients, and venue personnel.
- Review event and delivery paperwork and immediately communicate discrepancies or delivery-related issues.
- Collaborate with Warehouse and Operations teams to support smooth and efficient event deliveries and returns.
- Assist with additional warehouse, delivery, and operational responsibilities as needed based on business and event requirements.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of professional driving experience in New York City, including experience operating straight box trucks.
- Demonstrated experience safely driving, maneuvering, backing, parking, loading, and unloading box trucks in New York City environments.
- Experience making commercial, catering, hospitality, food-service, event, or similar deliveries strongly preferred.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean and acceptable driving record required.
- Driver Medical Certification preferred.
- Strong familiarity with New York City roadways, traffic patterns, commercial loading zones, loading docks, parking restrictions, and driving conditions.
- Ability to safely navigate box trucks through congested city streets, tight loading areas, and venue delivery locations.
- Knowledge of proper load distribution and techniques for safely securing equipment and materials for transportation.
- Strong commitment to safe driving practices and the proper handling and transportation of equipment, food, beverages, and event materials.
- Professional, courteous, and hospitality-focused when interacting with clients, event guests, venue and building staff, and fellow employees.
- Team-oriented with a positive, dependable, and “can-do” attitude.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, time-management, and organizational skills.
- Ability to remain professional and solutions-focused when navigating changing schedules, traffic delays, delivery challenges, or other operational needs.
- Ability to work weekends and holidays based on business and event needs.
- Ability to stand and remain active for extended periods, including shifts of 8 hours or more.
- Ability to repeatedly lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks associated with loading and unloading box trucks and other company vehicles.
