The Pharmacy Solutions Architect will assist with the strategic design, implementation, integration, optimization, and lifecycle management of pharmacy technology solutions across the health system in collaboration with the Pharmacy Informatics.  This role partners with Pharmacy Informatics, Operations, Information Technology, Clinical Informatics, Nursing, Revenue Cycle, Supply Chain, and vendor partners to deliver scalable solutions that support medication management, patient safety, operational excellence, and regulatory compliance

Responsibilities

  1. Provide strategic pharmacy technology solutions, including the design, implementation, optimization, testing, deployment, maintenance, and support of pharmacy applications, medication management systems, interoperability platforms, and pharmacy automation technologies. 

  2. Design and architect pharmacy technology solutions across all care settings, ensuring alignment with organizational goals, operational workflows, patient safety initiatives, and regulatory requirements. 

  3. Lead architecture discussions, solution design sessions, system enhancements, and integration efforts involving Epic Willow, electronic health records, pharmacy automation, inventory management, revenue cycle systems, and third-party applications. 

  4. Collaborate with operational, clinical, and technical stakeholders to define business and functional requirements and develop technology solutions that improve efficiency, safety, and user experience. 

  5. Develop and maintain short- and long-term technology roadmaps that support continuous improvement, innovation, and digital transformation initiatives within Pharmacy Services. 

  6. Lead pharmacy technology projects and strategic initiatives, including planning, implementation, testing, deployment, optimization, and ongoing support activities. 

  7. Execute Epic Willow build activities required to support pharmacy technology projects, computerized provider order entry (CPOE), medication administration workflows, and integrated medication management solutions. 

  8. Work with pharmacy informatics and operational stakeholders to configure and maintain medication records, concentrations, dosing parameters, infusion settings, and interoperability components required for system integrations and smart infusion pump initiatives. 

  9. Partner with Clinical Integration Pharmacists, nursing informatics teams, Information Technology, and vendor partners to ensure alignment between pharmacy workflows, smart pump drug libraries, and Epic configuration standards. 

  10. Perform workflow analysis, testing, and validation across medication ordering, pharmacist verification, dispensing, administration, smart pump programming, documentation, and billing processes. 

  11. Lead and participate in system integration testing, user acceptance testing (UAT), go-live planning, deployment activities, and post-implementation optimization efforts. 

  12. Ensure billing and revenue integrity through validation of medication charge capture, infusion documentation, and revenue cycle workflows. 

  13. Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve technical, workflow, configuration, interface, and interoperability issues affecting pharmacy systems and medication-use processes. 

  14. Establish and oversee application development, implementation, support, and governance methodologies to ensure consistent delivery of high-quality solutions. 

  15. Manage vendor relationships, technology evaluations, contract support activities, and product performance reviews. 

  16. Contribute to departmental and organizational strategic planning, policy development, governance frameworks, and operational priorities. 

  17. Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory, accreditation, cybersecurity, privacy, and organizational requirements. 

  18. Lead, mentor, and develop team members through coaching, performance management, succession planning, and staff development activities, as applicable. 

  19. Collaborate with Pharmacy Operations, Clinical Informatics, Nursing, Revenue Cycle, Information Technology, Supply Chain, and executive leadership to advance strategic pharmacy technology objectives.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelors or equivalent education and experience.

 

Experience:

  • 10 or more years of experience, including some prior management experience.
  • Epic Willow Inpatient Certification and experience required
  • Epic William Ambulatory Certification is a highly preferred 
  • Epic Willow Inventory Certification preferred
  • Epic Optime Certification preferred 

 

Compensation Statement

The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides salary ranges that comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $145,200.00 - $217,875.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
