Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 15 years of experience in business development, partnerships, management consulting, or investment banking, or 13 years of experience with an advanced degree.
  • Experience working with C-level executives and cross-functionally across multiple levels of management.
  • Experience managing agreements or partnerships.
  • Experience leading teams, projects, or mentoring others.

Preferred qualifications:

  • MBA or Master's degree in a related field.
  • Experience escalating and presenting key issues and recommendations to executive leadership.
  • Deep understanding of AI data landscapes, model pre-training concepts, and IP/copyright frameworks.
  • Ability to grow in collaborative, and ambiguous environments where thoughtfulness, an entrepreneurial mindset, persistent execution, and strong relationships drive success.
  • Proven ability to facilitate complex discussions, structure agreements, interpret legal documents, and work closely with legal counsel to sign and manage agreements.

About the job:

The Knowledge and Information Partnerships team (K&I) negotiates and manages partnerships for content, integrations, and distribution to build and differentiate Google’s core products.

As the Head of Strategic Partner Development for Gemini and GenAI, you will lead the global team responsible for acquiring foundational AI training data. Serving as the primary bridge to the global publishing ecosystem, you will align content acquisition strategies with internal model-training priorities to ensure Google’s AI models are trained on the highest-quality tokens.
The Global Partnerships organization is responsible for exploring new opportunities with Google's partners. Google’s Global Partnerships team works with a wide range of partners to bring the best of Google to power their business. The Global Partnerships team supports Google’s own Product teams with essential partnerships to help Google’s user experiences in advertising, Search, Assistant, Maps, Travel, Shopping, Payments and more. Teams create product-enabling partnerships, go-to-market strategies and incubate business growth for a variety of products.Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead high-stakes, cross-product area efforts to identify, discuss, and execute complex data licensing agreements with global publishers, aggregators, and content holders to secure foundational AI training data.
  • Drive the strategy and execution of a global content acquisition pipeline, scaling programmatic data sourcing via scaled efforts and overseeing high-priority direct acquisition efforts.
  • Oversee data valuation frameworks, offer strategies, and budget allocation in close collaboration with DeepMind, Finance, and Legal to ensure highly efficient acquisition spend and platform scaling.
  • Drive high-level discussions with the global publishing and content ecosystem, representing AI data acquisition priorities at key industry forums and executive summits.
  • Manage and develop a team of business development professionals.
